Not sure if it's a recognisable intro to most people, but especially in the summer time I just love the intro to 'Rudi, a message to you'

In the car, sunny day, it just makes me smile.

BigJohn - Member

The longest-running thematically linked etc. ...The Chain

Technically this isn't an intro. It comes in towards the end of the song.

My riding mantra...

Although IIRC the "you fat b******" intro was from the beginning of 30 Something, before launching into the energy fest oif Surfin USM.... another piece of anti-social music from my past that really ought to be tracked down for the mp3 player - the casette died many many years ago

Black Dog - Led Zeppelin

Fish heads, fish heads, roly poly fish heads!

I remember seeing the video just once as a child and it still lives with me.

Hard Day's Night is surely the only song you could name after one chord.

Where's your head at? Basement Jaxx.

Because they shout 'Where's your head at?' really loud.

Surfin' USM
Where is My Mind (Pixies)
That one that goes "dada doo da dur dur dur du-dudder-dur" (guitar riff). In fact, I know the intro so well but I don't know the song.

I like these music posts, but I'm struggling with the concept of "most recognisable". A lot of the ones above would not be instantly recognisable if played by another musician in another musical style. Is it the notes or the way they're played?

Or shall I just get my coat? 😯

Wish you were here - Pink Floyd - would be close to the top of my list. Can't see it listed so far.

I was never a big fan of Pink Floyd in my formative teens, a few years before my time. Still not really a fan but this album and Dark Side of the Moon are timeless.
