Joy Division ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’

Oooh, good choice!

Too Much Too Young (if they're young!)

You've Lost that Loving Feeling

I remember dancing with my mum to Grandmaster Flash White Lines at mine. Seems quite inappropriate when you think about it 😀

I guess W.A.P. by Cardi B might not go down well with the older relatives 😂

I once went to a wedding where the bride and groom did the first dance to Creep by Radiohead which was an interesting choice.

I was at a wedding (was my sister's +1 as shed split with her boyfriend a few days before and I knew the bride and groom from my visits down to see her in uni) where the bride and groom were full-on metalheads. They had the normal wedding with party and cheesy disco for their families then left the evening do in the car as per tradition. This car took them to the local Rock Club that they had also booked, some of us made out way there too and also other friends that didn't go to the traditional evening do were let in as well. They then proceeded to have a proper lock in with all the most inappropriate 'wedding' songs you could think of (lots mentioned above, Ugly Kid Joe was the starter!), mosh pits every few songs and multiple drinking games. All while the bride and groom were still in their wedding clothes! Suffice to say neither outfits survived unscathed but are now hung up in their house as a reminder of the fun of that night. They're still together 20+ years later and still as mad as back then so it worked for them!

Band of Gold Frieda Payne

You took me from the shelter of my mother
I had never known or loved any other
We kissed after taking vows
But that night on our honeymoon
We stayed in separate rooms

Since you've been gone
All that's left is a band of gold
All that's left of the dreams I hold
Is a band of gold
And the dream of what love could be
If you were still here with me

etc...

My son has a wedding band and they were asked to start the evening off with Ed Sheeran after 30 seconds they were supposed to stop and go into Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes " I hate you," ...a real classy song to play for the grannies and kids who were there. Fortunately the Bride decided she wanted another band a week before the wedding... Legal proceedings in place 😁

Not quite this, but a friend of mine, in acknowledgment of how much of a bridezilla she’d been for most of the wedding planning, walked up the isle to the tune of Jurassic Park.

Also, the best band I’ve ever heard at a wedding were an Islamic Ska band called the Bagdaddies.

Our “first dance” music was (yes, we did an embarassingly shit quickstep; years ahead of our time) “Let’s face the music and dance” 😂

We did 'That Ole Devil Called Love' in front of a room half-full of evangelical Christians.

Most inappropriate:

Easy Lover by Phil Collins?
Tainted Love?

Under My Thumb by the Stones would be a perfect moment, if anyone listens to the lyrics.

I'm actually performing a set this weekend with my (as of tues) wife, at our own wedding party

I wrote all the songs, and the second happiest (or second least-miserable) is called Almost Worth Living, and it takes that idea entirely seriously

The happiest has a very upbeat melody, but climaxes:

If I'd never been born
the world would be a little different
in a million different ways
none of which matter
to anyone alive

Yeah, just get the videographer to zoom in on the father of the bride's face as he listens... 🙂

Good one to subliminally say how you feel about most of your guests that you had to invite even though you hate them 😂

@nyc101009 The singer out of Slipknot went to Rome to see the Pope…

My mate and her husband could only agree on Love Will Tear Us Apart for the wedding disco playlist, though they did think better of it. He’s a Fall completist though, and I’m almost certainly MES must’ve recorded something totally unsuitable for a wedding.

Not read the whole thread but I did hear an old story of the couple who wanted the music from Robin Hood as the walked down the aisle together. Ahh lovely. What they got was not Canadian Crooner, Brian Adam’s but Errol Flynn’s slightly more uptempo take in Sherwoods finest.

Without any context that may be gleaned by reading the thread, I'm pretty sure "Use My Arsehole As A ****" by Kunt and the Gang is probably top 5 at least.

Last wedding I played ( the only one I've played) the bride and groom requested

Little lies- Fleetwood Mac!

Go your own way- Fleetwood Mac!

Great songs, the dance floor was rammed with people singing along at the top of their lungs.

They are still together 6 years on so fine, weird but fine!

Years ago one of the draughtsmen at a place I worked at got remarried. I got invited to the evening do. The song that he selected for their first dance - I sh*t you not - was 'You've lost that lovin' feelin'' by the Righteous Brothers.

I DJ for weddings, most interesting choice I have seen on a couples playlist was...

No Vaseline - Ice Cube (brides choice no joke!)
