I await the apologies. 8)
I'll post the official answer once the lunch time mob get a look at it.
It's not a trick question.
It doesn't matter where you are looking at the box from. (Which I suspect is half the point.)
It doesn't matter where you are looking at the box from.
Oh you'd be surprised. A lot of people on facebook had trouble with that diagram and were treating that as their point-of-view, trying to roll the box forward onto its edge...
Those people would not make good astronauts 😆
The dot is always on the bottom of the cube in space.
The smart answer :
There is no up nor down in space apart from hourglass planetary nebulae
Do i get my astronaut licence now?
Nah, i'm a much better spaceship pilot than that example above, i spent many hours skiving high school at Oban to play defender and asteroids in the arcade and held the highest score so that obviously makes me a dead-cert for for astronaut school.
On the top .
The forward roll puts it on the back. Left left doesn't change that.
Forwards puts it on the top. Right then moves it to the right face.
Then backwards makes no difference, it's still on the right face.
Want to make the puzzle harder? Make the dot an arrow pointing at you. Now name the direction after following that sequence.
My 7 and 10 yr olds got this right.
Stealth edit - obviously they get their smarts from their mother as I needed it explaining to me..
Dez, are you rotating it around its corner rather than rolling it on its edge?
No, I get it - I was rotating it left (on it's base, not corner), rather than rolling it over. Stupid test. Who wants to go up into space anyway. s'rubbish.
“It’s SOL 87 and the crew failed the box test, commander GrahamS has taken control of the rabble and is about to open the hatch..”
It's under the middle cup. No, the cup on the left. No your left.
And while scrolling up and down trying to help explain the answer, I missed out the last step. Curse my tiny phone screen.
