Looking to buy one, but they vary in price from around £10 up. I was looking a for 3 cup size but know nothing about them. Are there any real benefits from one brand to another in terms of the durability and ease of use?

Had been looking at this this one. I'm not a connoisseur and I'd normally pop down to a local shop for some advice.

Cheers

Used to have a small Bialetti, now have a bigger Ikea one (older one, not the current 'Metallisk' thingy). Not tasted any noticeable difference myself, sure someone will be along shortly to tell me I'm wrong though.

I think the only real difference is in the quality of materials, country of origin and availability of spares.
I have Bialetti, TopMoka and Alessi stove tops of varying size from 1 cup spout to 6 cup stainless steel. Slight difference in taste but all good 🤗

Thanks for the feedback. I'd rather spend the money on one that lasts and has spares available so I'll go with the Bialetti.

Appreciate all your help.

I'd rather have a stainless steel Bialetti. Avoids the taste of aluminium, and works on an induction hob.

I have the 6 cup bialetti, got it from Lidl or Aldi aisle of dreams for about 10gbp. In fact if I saw them again I would buy another for spares as they are super cheap. You have to do a few dummy brews to get the factory taste off...and don't put it in the dishwasher.

I’ve got two. They’re the Bialetti one with a weight that’s supposed to increase the steam pressure before they brew. Make very good coffee but also are prone to leaking all over the hob from the join if you’re not scrupulous about cleaning the seals.
