I've been trying to find some back metal folk music that isn't atmospheric or jingle jangle fairy songs in the woods, I think Svalbard touched on it in some of their quieter parts but I'm failing so if anyone has any recommendations of bleak but mellow despair I'm all ears.

It's a name I know but have never investigated. I've always assumed they fit in with bands like Type O Negative who never really did it for me, they were a bit too trad / goth doom. I'll give them a go, thanks.

Listened to Friday's R2 Rock Show last night, guest hosted by......... Rick Astley! Came across quite well, clearly likes his rock.
Missed a week because we've had a Indy / pop festival going on which coincidentally had Rick Astley playing.
Didn't enjoy Katatonia. Perfectly fine on a 2000's compilation but not something I'd hunt out specifically.

Mostly been listening to Oathbreaker's Rheia and Cavity this week. I can never decide if Supercollider, On the Lamb or Laid Insignificant is my fave.

Oh also not metal but I'm intrigued by that fusion jazz duo, not the spotty one, the other one with just drums and piano. Only ever seen 30 seconds or so of their stuff on video clips, I feel like I could really enjoy a few tracks of theirs but not a whole album. Can't flipping remember their name now though.
