2009 was the hack, when everyone had to re-register, that's why our registration dates only go back that far.

I was probably here 2004-5? Not sure.

I think I joined abbout 2003, I think under the username Biketart (because I was too skint to be one), and then changed username in about 2008, after the infamous hack.

Still here. Same username. Can't believe how long it's been - I reckon late 2003 is when I started to visit frequently, since before that I think I had a username but didn't dare log in from work as the guy who sat next to me had been fired for 'accessing the internet' - no one ever elaborated on that so I didn't come on here just in case.

Been here since pre-hack, possibly 2005-ish?

Think I was around in 2010 under the name TandemJeremy

Nah, can't be, he got a lifetime ban 😉

2001 iirc, always the same name, joined after Matt Letch waved a copy of issue 2 under my nose back when he was at Chelmer cycles. How much were those issues- can remember being wary of buying at the price.

Been here for a good 20 years, changed username due to different circumstances.

I remember your old name, always stuck in my mind, probably because the words were so unusual to my antipodean ears.

Early for me, although as others my profile says 2009.

I remember my first STW groups ride in around 2001 ish. Met close to Halifax and set off at huge speed straight up a road onto the hill tops.

Far faster than I was expecting, or capable of holding, so flaked out at the top. Somebody offered me a banana but it was too late by then as I was cooked - 20 minutes in 🤦‍♀️

Made my way back to the car and re-evaluate just how fast I could ride.

I took a copy of the magazine on holiday with me, picked up from the airport. Pretty sure it was #2 (no, not shit, the issue number) and then joined after that. It was early 2002 I'm pretty certain b/c was holiday for my wife's 30th so March 2002

I was jonv, then post hack for some reason couldn't get that to work so became theotherjonv.

Shit, 21 years of time wasting.......

Been here from way back when it was the Gofar site, long before the magazine. Was into MTB from late 1998. When did Gofar start?

2003 for me I think. Joined before the first Verbier girlie week. I might have had a photo in the magazine from the trip. It was that trip that got me the buzz I used to get from windsurfing

Bikes then took over in a big way and family holidays were spent in the Alps.

Nothings changed for me apart from a few bikes, getting a bit older and the girls growing up

2001/02 then reloaded post-hack. Fewer commitments back then meant I was much more involved. Met some cool peeps throughout the 2000s too.

I think 2005/6, met loads from here back in the day but fell out of love with cycling for a few years. Back in the saddle now, but never left this place.

I remember like it was yesterday the Evilzone hack...

Edit...

2006 Mleh meets in the Peak

Had a great ride from Holmfirth with some of those lads...

Apparently 2009 looking at my profile. I remember being here back before the hack, so I'll say 2003/2004 sort of time.

2005 I think for me, I moved to Wales in 2005 and was eagrly asking questions about Afan and local trails before the move.

Was a shame MTB Wales imploded, it was a bit abrasive at times but I still see and text folk I met on that from time to time.

There's at least one other occasional poster I know from those days bashing around on here.

I was thinking the other day about what that feller who sat in the top left corner is up to know! 🙂

I still have the turbo trainer bought from Ton in about 2010!

This place has been a constant helping hand through a multitude of problems though which is why I've stuck around and owe a bunch of people a thanks for their feedback.

, So thanks everyone!

still here. still same name.

dip in less regularly or as often.

Never really managed many get-together rides, even in Edinburgh (monksie's farewell being an exception) and now much further north, much less so. I do have a selection of jerseys and merch though.

Another "early days" member here. I'd have to go into an old Hotmail account to seen just how early.

I remember "The Flying Pieman", "42" (he-man topless pics), and the original Badger Badger Badger Badger days fondly. Who was the kid who posted pics of himself in his bedroom in full BMX gear . . .

Happy days.

September 2005 I believe. Was druidh back then. I can't recall who first pointed me here. Might have been dirtygirlonabike ?

I've met quite a few forumites, either solo, on some sort of group outing or those who were also on mlehworld when that was a less-moderated option and some of the banter on there just wasn't allowed on STW.

I was a mag subscriber before issue 1 came out. Looked at gofar a bit before that, but I guess I could trace my way here through various newsgroups etc, starting maybe 1997 ish?

There are still quite a few people about on here that I've kinda known for getting on for 25 years then... and a few that I actually know.

Been a lurker since the early days, then joined in 2006. Took part in many of the STW rides (mostly in Calderdale and the Peak district.
I've made some fantastic friends from here. Also it's been an education.

“Rode the first MTL night ride with a few early shakers who still frequent this parish”

Has your mate recovered from the shits yet? That was when I first met Terrahawk.

I went on the STW ride when they first moved to Tod. Been knocking about since the Go Far days though.

After the Gofar days, but well before the Great Hack, around 2003-ish I think. Never been away.

I've been here since 2002 I think. I've had plenty of usernames. Picked this one up after I hurled a brilliantly crude and totally justified insult at the knob cheese that runs Superstar components.

It'll make a few folk feel old, but I've been married for over a decade.

Made some genuine lifelong pals through here via Mlehworld. Had a mlehmeat just last week in fact.

Profile says 2009, but definitely been here longer than that - sometime after GoFar, but pre-Sean schism, and can remember when Brant sold keenly priced bikes rather than over priced blankets.
