Agreed - he just loves cooking and always has a smile on his face.

Yup , not sure he can pull off the refinement to win but he's great to watch.

Glad it's not just me! He's come across as a talented, modest and thoroughly charming individual.

Kerley will be along any minute to tell us all what a c##t he is, but I agree. He has such a joy about him and he’s a real tonic for so much cynicism in the world.

He only knows how to cook one desert (which he did tonight) so that might hold him back in terms of range.

Can’t see much beyond Bart for the win though.

Anyone know what happened to the one they edited out?

Horrific accident while shucking oysters I heard.
He'll never pay the banjo again poor fella.

When did they edit someone out?

I think Santosh is good but a bit limited. Jonno's clearly v creative but I don't like his reaction to criticism...basically "Marcus is wrong".

Bart for the win...

We’re watching it and also big Santosh fans. Just comes across as such a gentle soul. Very refreshing to tonic in these times.

I think Alex may win. He also comes across very well. Very talented at only 25. Bart has a good chance too.

I’m a bit behind so no spoilers !

Santosh is great, such joy

The person edited out I think worked for a cruise line and was not permitted to appear so they had to remove them.

Was that one of the heats that only had 3 people?

Bart's too obvious

Got to be Santosh

This year's themes:

Food arranged in lines, possibly as a sauce dam

Use of bone marrow and or lard and or mutton fat where you would least expect

I forget which one but yes - it was all very mysterious at the time.

Only caught a few this year but yes thoroughly agree Santosh has a genuine passion for good but the not the finesse to win.

One of the previous finalists from a few years ago is doing ‘posh street food’ up here. I’ve missed him when he’s been close to here, lockdown stopped me going further, it looks outstanding. The food seems to have the same passion and flavours in it.

Havent watched last nights episode but agree from the previous week Santosh is good, his Chinese inspired dishes have me ordering Chinese this weekend!

I really like Bart not sure if its the accent or the adidas trainers he's wearing but I'm backing Bart for the win.

I want Bart to win, on the proviso that he actually goes out and does something afterwards. I think he’s currently a private chef for some rich family in that London, seems a shame that someone so talented is kept, metaphorically I’m sure, locked in some basement making one family’s tea every day. That said, for him I bet it’s not a bad gig...

I do wonder how Barts gig works with what can only be a very wealthy family, does he do all meals? does he live with the family? was the kitchen used in his promo video the actual family's kitchen?

Indeed not, one of Gordon Ramsey's early jobs was as a provate chef to Reg Grundy, the Aussie TV magnate.

Loving this year's series - Bart and Alex are the stand outs but we all cheered at last night's result. Totally agree with the comments above re Jono and Santos.

That is all.

Indeed. Comes with working at The Man Behind The Curtain, it seems.

Was it not on a private yacht for Bart? Or was that someone else.

Also pointless use of gold leaf (see also: Great British Menu). I wish Marcus or one of the critics would call the chefs out on how vulgar and wasteful it is. People die mining that so you can wind up flushing it down the ****er.

He has worked on them previously, but he’s with a family in London now

I like Bart too - the most Dutch bloke in the world, like Padraig Harrington is the most Irish bloke in the world and Jamie Carragher is the most scouse.

Oh, and Jono was a bellend. I couldn't decide if he was just saying stuff because that's what he thought he had to (thus making him an insincere bellend) or whether he really meant it (thus making him a genuine bellend).

Philly's habit of ending every sentence with a burst of forced laughter is an affectation that is grinding my gears too.

I think he mistook Masterchef for The Apprentice.

I think it's a nervous thing...but annoying nonetheless. And I don't actually think she's that good

Bart for the win. Talking of waste they do seem to have huge quantities that end up with a tiny amount on the plate.

Bart for the win I reckon, I did a catering course in London ages ago and a few fellow students were employed by families in private houses. Clearly not to barts level, but they cooked for the families, their kids, entertaining. They even travel to their holiday homes to cater there.

They lived out so must have been paid a fair salary to keep them.

Quite liked Jono for delivering this years classic line:

'wood ants? where do you get them?'
'the wood'

but he broke the golden rule: never, never, ever, under any circumstances, disagree with Marcus

Jono also produced the least palatable pudding in the world - sticky toffee pud with beef dripping. W the A F. No, never in fact. And for years I've always said never say never!

but he broke the golden rule: never, never, ever, under any circumstances, disagree with Marcus

this +1. Shot in the foot.

Bart for the win, Santos for peoples / popular vote.

You were on board with bone marrow creme brûlée though?

Some insight to him here...

Philly has got lucky in the last couple of rounds - the street food thing was made for her and then she landed on the weak side of the draw last night. I don't think she'd have got through that final dessert shoot out if she hadn't made it straight through beforehand.

when you say street food, do you mean where they had to do deliveralbe food? which is what she'd been doing for a living in lockdown.
Then the curry round...which she'd done for a supermarket chain......

@tomhoward - I saw that, and while batshtcrazy I felt the dripping infused sauce was a step too far. The bone was more of a novelty dish. He actually considered it to be a robust idea.

On the basis that all the contestants are using this as a springboard to open their own place or head up a restaurant, who will read Jono's menus and think - yer, I want in on that... It's just blowing smoke up critics asses'...

Yessssssssssss Santosh!

You've gotta love the guy - just genuine.

The only problem now is I won't be able to afford to eat in his restaurant!

Great stuff. They're all good and seem like good people. But it got a bit dusty when Santosh was talking about his ma. Sounds like he's come from a pretty tough place to get to where he is.

Right decision but Santosh didn’t serve a plate of food. He served a meal. If you put it in one plate it wouldn’t work

Really enjoying this series, would be happy for any of the last 3 to win but think it's between Santosh & Bart.
