[#6218687]

hello..

We have quite a small back garden with two drain manhole covers. We were planning to put down some scree to give it a sort of courtyard feel. Is there any good reason I shouldn't cover up the manhole covers with the scree? The thinking being that if I ever need to get access, I can just sweep back the scree.

Unless it's corroded such that it might break if you stand on it there's no real issue in covering it up. You just need easy access (missus)

There are recessed covers, made to allow you to screed them over and still have access. Not a good idea to 'cap' them in any way.

Sorry I misread and took it as screed! If are meaning peashingle type stones then worry not and go straight over as long as the original cover is in a good servicable state, just check it periodically.

Yes, I mean the sort of slate type chippings. The manhole cover is a concrete one, so pretty sturdy.
