Just in case this helps anyone ...

I bought a new MacBook Pro last month, and noticed it was losing ~30% charge overnight, when left with the lid closed and not connected to anything. This seemed wrong so I did some googling and found a hint to add a 'Prevents Sleep?' column to Activity Monitor, so I did that, and it showed a WhatsApp process was indeed preventing sleep. (It seemed to be the only process which was.)

So I killed WhatsApp, closed the lid last night with 100% charge, and this morning it woke up with 100% charge. 🙂

I'm not technical and have no idea if this is general knowledge, why it was happening, etc, but the charge it seemed to be taking was significant. 2025 MBP with M4 Pro and Sequoia.

I've got WhatsApp on mine (M4 Pro, Sequoia) and it's not preventing sleep. There may be some setting in WhatsApp that you've got on / I've got off that would let you run it and not lose charge?

Yeah, no prevent sleep here either. Were you sharing your location? Have push notifications enabled?
