Hi all, yes its that post again!
I was just about to pull the trigger on some Panaracer Fire XC's but I thought I'd better ask the brains trust.
My mate raves about his XC's, grippy and strong.
My training route consists of 60% Fire road (I eat the hills) and 40% wet mud and light rocky sections.
I am looking for a good all round tyre for winter training and the odd trail centre.
My current Michelin XC AT are hopelessly fragile and i have had 3 thorns through the walls in the last 5 rides.
My main things is I don't want to be slowed on the fire roads by a DRAGGGGGY tyre.
There's no one size fits all silver bullet, but what would people say would be a good fit?
D.
Bontrager XR4 seem to hold up well and don't drag too much. Claggy mud has them beat but wet mud they hook up well. Rocks are good too and they're TL ready.
Personally, I found FireXc's a bit draggy too.
the bonty's are sorta Nevegals with a slighly lower tread height.
nobby nics
Nobby nics are good allrounders, roll well and grip ok, but they wear out very quickly and tend to drift quite a bit if you push them hard in corners.
would be my 2nd choice.
Cool I'll check out the options. i also read about Maxxis ADvantage. Anyone recommend them?
Nobby nics won't be up to much in the mud, and yes they just dissapear if you lean them over a bit
