Jeez - mono.org, not heard of that in a long time.

Used to use mono to bypass access restrictions on a MUD... I wonder if my logins still work...?

This is a handy forum, use it and :ninja: Awooga forum mainly as a place to chew the fat.

I like here on the forum. The regular site I avoid and go to pinkbike first.
I stopped my subscript ion too.

Overall its great, the positives outweigh the negatives. Site shows it's very best when people are in trouble and need some support

Shadows, Legion, Lews - can't remember anymore.

The first two are still live, both associated with a Pipex email address.
shadows, last on 2011.
legion, last on 2009.

lews doesn't exist as far as I can see.

odd - i've never had a pipex e-mail address (unless the Uni ones I had migrated). And I've not been on mono since about 99 I would think.

Mleh - does mono host MUDs anymore?

This place helped me out when my son was born and there were a lot of medical issues. I'll never forget the kindness and support shown by a group of people I've never actually met. I've also spent way too much money on bikes, learned some random crap and had a laugh over the last three years as a result of frequenting this place. It's the only forum I've actually been arsed to join.

It gets a bit tiresome sometimes when it just seems like it's constant politics and religion, but this place always seems to deliver, someone always seems to know the answer regardless how obscure the question is.

I was telling my wife the other week about people off here meeting up in Les Gets for a ride, I was actually in Samoens at the time but was only there for 4 days and was leaving the next day so couldn't really spare the time. She thought it was great that strangers were meeting up in a different country to go riding, and said if it happens again I should go, and she usually just pretends to be interested when I mention stuff off here!!

There was a Great Purge a few years back, it's entirely possible that yours were deleted and someone else recreated them. Wait - I can check creation dates. shadows - 1996, legion 97.

Mleh - does mono host MUDs anymore?

Yeah. Probably more like SUDs these days though. (-: I was a MUDder but never really played the Mono ones so don't know a lot about them.

Looking at the menu, there's Zebedee, Razor's Edge and NewDawn. Looks like the latter's down but the first two are running.

Politics and Religion. Two subjects our parents and grandparents would say you shouldn't discuss with strangers. Don't borrow money either.

I often have a good laugh reading stuff on STW. I'm not witty enough to think of funny things myself but I enjoy reading them!

I was a GoFar reader, but have only ever had a STW login (well two if we think of the great hack).

When I discovered that riding bikes was no longer really something I can do, I completely stopped posting and reading either the bike or chat forums for 12 months. I recall finally coming back and making a single post, only for mcmoonter simply to say "he's back". I was extremely touched.

It remains my go to forum, more often for reading and using as a better alternative to Google. I've met various people off here (years ago TBH) and there are others I'd still like to meet.

I'll be 40 soon. Anazing to think this place and so many people have been constant companions for nearly half of that time!

Scarily, I've been posting here (and GoFar) for almost half my life.
This! I maintain that there is nothing the STW can't answer- really where else could you find this level of community. Nice one Ton.

This place for me been (in no particular order) a source of wisdom, advice, slatings, laughter and consumer advice. I'm not a huge poster on here but a daily lurker. My only regret is that I didn't pick myself a natty username when I registered ๐Ÿ˜ณ

This Forum has...

Cost me a fortune. Made me a shed loads of mates. Rode loads of Trails I wouldn't have even known existed.

And when i really needed it, dragged me out of a very very dark place.

Cheers guys!

It is quite good here isn't it?

On a recent get together a random phone from a friend led me to ask a bunch of STW riders about Capital Gains tax. Needless to say the team stepped up to the mark and my friend is smiling again.

I've had quite a few incidents like this- Cheers Folks, you are great.

Great place to come for a huge range of info, advice, banter, opinion. Other forums I have posted on in the past have decayed as Social Media has become the place people go to more and more. I'm not always even opening the mag any more, and now my MTBing is becoming more mincing than ever, but really like this place.

Non-forum users don't really understand it though.

I find myself using it less and less to be honest.

It was way better back circa 2003-2008.

The place gets a bit whiney, wet and a bit mard sometimes.

Saying that though, it still is a great place for a bunch of ideas, updates on various things. I've met some good people care of this place and even pulled a lovely lady rider on here a few years back....we're still together!

On a side note. Bring back Kylie Friday that's what i say!

Eddiebaby I love the pinkbike reviews and often raucus discussions on racing. Some knowledgable people on there. Here is good too but not on technical stuff. I rarely post on there, just read as I only have so much time in a day for forums.
