hi ive been looking about for an update for my current car. now ive not too much to spend. about 2.5k tops really im after a bigger car a6/v40 estate/legacy type of thing just wondered how reliable these are for the money im looking at a 99/00 a6 with say 120k miles, or a 51 volvo or legacy with around the 80/100k on them
now im told that the a6 with more miles on is still a better buy
anyone run any of the above ?
edit; i used to have a legacy estate and loved it but i didnt have to pay for servicing lol
part of me says get an 03 mondeo but i would like a bit nicer if older car
btw petrol prices dont worry me too much tbh as mileage is not huge that i do
cheers all
I have a V70 as the daily driver, much better in terms of size than the V40. The A6 is nice, but has a badly shaped boot for bikes IMO.
To be honest, with the money you're talking, get the Mondeo. You'll do better for your money there. Around the 5-6k and up mark is where you start getting nicer Volvo and Audi. 2.5k ones tend to have been driven to the ends of the earth and back!
We just got rid of our 98 V40. Good car but the boot was a funny shape and not so great to load. 120k service was going to cost more than the car was worth. Had that not been the case we'd still have it. For my money, given your choices, I'd get the Ford. Newer, reliable, good drive, inexpensive servicing. I know they are everywhere but good things tend to be popular.
yeah its just there is a 2.5 gd lux legacy on a 51 with 12 service stamps from subaru calling me lol
i know the mondeo is a great car for the cash tho
sharan/galaxy/alhambra? much better than estate for bikey/family stuff
they are too big i think trekster. ive got the roof bar mounted carriers so any estate with bars would be ok im just looking on trader again but im drawn to other things rather than the mondeo lol
sensibly i picked up a 53 mondeo zetec yesterday . Happy bunny now cheers chaps ๐
