I have a friend who is working in Sulaymaniyah - I am interested in going to visit him. I was considering trying to go during the Newroz festival. It seems like it's relatively safe but I'm wondering about taking lots of expensive camera gear.
Anyone have any advice?

I spent some time around Mosul in 1991 and found the locals to be very warm and friendly 🙂

I did do some sightseeing, yes. There was only the 2 of us so we had a bit of a look round (off duty)just be prepared to get mobbed by kids!
