Is anyone racing? I'm doing the Olympic distance corporate race on Saturday.

I haven't been able to get the training in and am recovering from being ill so I am aiming to finish.

Yes, sprint this year on the Saturday. Did olympic last year and my legs gave up about 2k into the run, was walking 100m, running 100m around the rest. Too late now to suggest that you do some runs straight after bike rides!

I didn't do much training at all either - just make sure you take on enough water and preferably some energy drink / food / gel on the bike bit to keep you going.

I've been racing for a while. I was hoping to do elite this year, but got injured then ill. It has been a dreadful race season. I dropped 10 minutes on the Windsor run after hurting my foot on the first lap.

This is my first year at London and I got my first swim in for 6 weeks last night. I’ll be happy with sub 2.30 and just finishing.

Weather looks pretty shoddy too. Thunderstorms and 12mph wind.

Means cold water and having to cycle even harder, but at least it effects everyone.

Usually it's baking hot with people dehydrating so that will make a change!

Good luck, you're obviously a lot fitter than I am. If you've not been to London before just don't underestimate how long it will take to get from racking your bike to the start form-up area. The transition area is enormous, the entrance/exit to it is on the opposite corner of the hall to the start. Can be 20+ minutes walk depending on where you're racking up. My gf managed to miss her start time 2 years ago doing that!

I did it a few years back in a team of three (corporate too) - obviously did the bike leg.

My top tip - watch out for the roundabouts - they're really slippy when it's wet - I almost came off on the first one - suggest you come off the tribars for them (as I did after the first one...)

Well done Alwyn! 🙂

How was the weather? It absolutely tipped it down about 20 mins into my bike leg on Saturday...

Is it still in the Victoria Dock?

Yes. Amazing how many lazy journalists covering Jenson Button wrote that it was in Hyde Park...

So how did Jenson get on? He was aiming for a finish in the top 10%, did he manage it? And Bradley Smith how did he get on??

He was second in his category.

That said, a mate of mine (female!) beat him by about 2 mins. She is damn quick though.

It would have put him 34th in the mens sub-2:30 category (the really serious amateurs), or 47th in Elite. Very good result though.

Waves, yep I was there again this year. I always race a few mates there as we can get in the open wave. I was 4th out of the 4 of us last year, but this year 1st. V pleased. Did a 2h17:09 so not too shabby IMHO. Still can't swim tho, so have to work on that.
