The pants family will be in London tomorrow, driving up the M3 to get there and then tubing/walking to to the British, NH museums and then back to the car - please, no paparazzi (think of the children)
Where would a clever person park their car? (no, "nowhere near bloody London" isn't really an option 😉 )
Thanks
Just to check, you realise they're reasonably far apart? Holborn to Kensington's going to mean a tube trip anyway so I suppose parking further out along the Piccadilly line would make sense, but I've no suggestion where. Parking near either is going to be loads of fun. TFL website has a helpful list of large carparks along each of the lines...

(have you considered doing the NH and then Science Museums instead to keep it closer together? Have you got the entire day and the will to keep moving all the time? I could spend most of a day in any of those 3...)
A clever person wouldn't drive in to town.....
But if they did, they would find a nice single yellow around Halsey St area, and then walk up to Albertopolis and spend all day there instead! V&A FTW, btw
Oh, and lunch at the Admiral Cod. Have the pork belly and a pint of Punter.
Try the furthest tube station. We usually park at the one at the end of the M40 (no good for you, obviously), but it was £1 all day on a Sat.
behind papddington around little venice is free parking at the weekends and only a short walk along the cannal to paddington. Just follow the A40, its dead easy.
My brothering law lives near hanger lane and we drove to little venice, left the car there and took a canal boat to camden, an ace day was had by all.

My lovely wife is fixed on those 2 museums (mostly the NH with a razz round some exhibition at the BM if there's tickets)
Yeh, about 4k between the two, if we were crows. Just 1 tube ride though (and one back again, obv)
I'm picturing parking near the BM so we can find out early whether there a are nay day tickets for the "wotevva", then rest of the day at NH
(there'll be no Admiral, Captain 🙁 )
Pompeii thing at the BM looks good though tbh I've never been that impressed with their paid-for exhibitions, maybe it's because the free stuff is so good. Probably better not take the kids to the japanese porn display though
We (family of 5) visited there on the last bank holiday Sunday.
We drove into the city and parked on the main Cromwell road about 200yds away from the museum road towards harrods and Kensington. Parked outside a hotel on a red route.
Signage stated no restrictions on a Sunday. Stayed for most of the day in same spot 0930-1600 with no problems.
Forget the tube and just get there early. Saves any hassle.
Edit. Just google mapped it and we parked between brompton road and thurloe place on the opposite side of the road to the Victoria and Albert museum.
what's a red route ?
😳
Like double yellows but for london
Sw7 2rs. Try that in google maps. Make sure you park outside the coach bays though
Cheers - I'm from the provinces
No worries. You'll have a great day. Just make sure you get there for 0930 or before to beat the queues.
The Imperial College car park is available to the public at weekends: see http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/facilitiesmanagement/security/carparking/publiccarparking (not that I work there or anything...)
Do not expect it to be cheap though...
It is next door to the NHM though, while South Ken tube is on the picadilly line which will get you to the British Museum so may well suit your requirements....
