[#1899362]

Hello,

Off to Llandeglla forest in a couple of weeks, Ive just looked at some pictures of the trail..... anyone recognise this http://www.coedllandegla.com/NetsiteCMS/pageid/6/gallery/8

Is there a chicken run around it - I'm not great with heights so probably wouldnt event walk over it let alone ride my bike over it! 🙂

You can get round it, I dont think theres a chicken run. Or you can miss that entire section, but that would be a shame. I'd just stop before and walk round it.

It's not as scary as it looks though, to be honest, it's fairly wide and you can stop on it with ease. Just pretend it's not raised and you'll ride it fine.

It its the raised log bridge it been taken down and a normal trail built to go around.

I think if you take the red route it will miss it, but then you'll miss most of the really good black run bits.

Walk it if you want as there's no chicken run, but you don't really notice the height when you ride it (looks worse in the photo than it is).

When was this taken down? It was there a month or so ago? If they were going to take any away I'd have hoped it woudl be the log section over the boggy bits, that always catches me out 😀

actually that piece of trail is only about 100 yards long and isn't particularly interesting, although the bridge is self really isn't that high and is at most 25 yards long. Go for it, you'll be fine

It is if you ride it fast enough 🙂

Thought you said it had been removed? Make your mind up? Are you just making this up now?

@coffee king:
I misunderstood where emma meant. the 'log section over boggy bits' has been taken out. think few people got hurt on it. Was fairly pointless any IMO 🙂 The other 'North shore' section is still there. But really Emma, its nothing to worry about,

Ah I see, crossed wires there then 🙂

Didn't know the boggy bit had been removed, but all the better for it IMO!

I only live about ten minutes away, ride up there quite often and people always seemed to be getting lifted out of there. If going tohave north shore-esque trails then should make them proper and have a trail around so people have the option. Think problem with that particular section was that it was on the main trail there and had no way around, so less confident riders couldn't go around and over confident riders realised they were in too deep by time got into middle of it

I dont think you can, theres no easy way to go around it unless you scramble down to the left which is not easy.

I gather you mean [img] [/img]

From what I remember, it's about 3-4ft wide and it really isn't technical. Plenty of room to put your feet down. Just keep your eyes out in front rather than down for better balance. I do remember when I first got on it that I thought there was just a big drop off the end but then i got closer and realised it was just a downslope 🙂

Its amazing how you can't see the downslope until the last minute!

Yeah - seriously it's nothing to worry about although it looks it from the photo's and as you approach.

It's pretty wide, dead straight and just gets steeper in two sections. You can't see the last slope until you are on top of it, but it really is just a wooden slope - nothing to worry about.
A decent amount of speed rolling into it and keep rolling, looking forwards not downwards and that's that.....

All of the above, its very easy to ride, just chuck your weight back as you roll over the end.

Dont bother trying to jump it as its a flat landing.

First time I rode it I stopped at the end because you cant see it. Then went back and rolled the sh1t out of it.

Looks scary in that pic. But surprisingly it's not as intimidating when you're on it.

The downslope is hidden though so your heart starts to flutter as you approach the transition. Do the whole thing at a moderate rolling speed so you can stop and dismount if you freak out (assuming you can confidently unclip). I suspect the biggest risk is braking, stopping and falling on the actual transition - but you wont do that.

It's a good buzz.

I think it's brilliant 😆 the design is really good because the first time you ride it at 2 points you just think it drops away...so you panic but it doesn't! it's really wide and easily rollable!

That boggy loggy bridge thing is chuffin horrible...fell off it on my retro bike...glad if its gone!

19 posts in and no-one has whined about Llandegla being too easy or mentioned riding it on a cross bike - what's happening to this place?

It looks a lot worse than it is. Saddle down a bit (if you want), lean back and no sharp braking - cant go wrong.... 😉

Grum leave my thread alone. Thanks all else, I'll maybe give it ago, I did manage to fall off some boardwalk on the northface trail and landed headfirst. Needless to say it hurt and is why I now have a bit of a thing about it. If it looks worse than it is I'll give it a try. Ta much

Sorry I was joking - I like Llandegla. It's just often a subject for controversy on here for some reason 😛

As everyone else said, that bit surprisingly easy and quite fun to be up high like that. The end is easily rollable

Well, needn't have panicked, it seemed to be shut today for whatever reason, we did the red route, bit short and a bit fireroady in places but still good fun though. We are here for a few days now so going to have a ride around the hills tomorrow I think.

I went for the first time last sunday. Haven't ridden much in the last couple of years and found the black physically tough going because i'm proper unfit, but technically pretty easy.
It was excellent though and we're going again next sunday! All the downy, twisty, rocky bits had me grinning.

I have a fear of heights - I was halfway along and the person (who was miles infront) just STOPPED at the lip to roll down (I'm guessing some poeple launch this bit).....yes its wide but doesnt seem that wide when you have to semi-track stand whilst someone decides to get off then walk down infront! 🙁

I can't resist anymore, can we let this thread disappear, please?

Every time I look at the topic page I see "LlandegLLa" and it's driving me crazy, I keep wanting to pronounce it with the second "LL" and it sounds horrible!!!! Aaaaaaargh!

It's LlandegLa!

And now we hyave f****** SnowdEn!!!! That's the English spelling and you can't get it right!! God help you if you had to use Yr Wyddfa!!!

And breathe.

😆

Ever so sorry don Simone, you might like to note also that 'have' is spelt without a 'y'. Would you like some help to put your toys back in your pram now?

What the pic is not showing is the need to get the power on after the drop down - if I remember it is quite steep up to the fire track so its important to keep your momentum going..
