I've got a print of that Escher on my wall - that's brilliant!
A guy I used to work with was inspired by that photo, and decided to make his own Escher lizard floor tiles - all detailed (in great detail) here :

Somebody should pm DD with this .
Just read that blog too, really enjoyed it!
Not sure when I first saw that photo but it was a few years ago now - you can imagine these things do the rounds amongst me and my likes. Pretty impressive in how it's made and fits together but it would be one of the ugliest floors in the world.
I'll bet there's a hell of a lot of wastage there, especially in a narrow hallway.
did you not read the blog? He said it was easy to put bits from one off-cut into another gap and actually massively over cut and ended up with a lot of spare full tiles at the end.I'll bet there's a hell of a lot of wastage there, especially in a narrow hallway
Don't think I'd want it in a big room but would be nice in a bathroom or loo.

I second that. I had a Parquet floor laid about 3 years ago. I selected Oak & DD suggested single or double herring bone weave (thanks). The floor looks good, but there are issues. Therefore, based on my admittedly limited experience.
I'd suggest anyone considering having a wooden floor laid, think very long and hard about doing so. Undoubtedly nice, if planned and laid correctly, etc, etc.
Nope. 😀did you not read the blog?
