[#9377770]

We’ve got 10 days booked in a nice holiday house for August near St Ives, Cornwall. We end there on the Tuesday so I’d like some somewhere for 2 or 3 nights, with a pool with a bit of woodland nearby or near the coast or just somewhere nice and rural. Centreparcs are asking for 1200 for a midweek 4 night break, which is ridiculous.
Any suggestions for anywhere you think might be reasonable or like a decent campsite that might also have statics on or holiday lodges, that might do short midweek breaks for a reasonable cost. Anywhere up the M5 will do, although preferably at least an hour from St Ives.
Thanks.

Good riding close by too.

you won't get as far as the M5 in an hour. 😉

in august it'll probably take at least 4...

I am being allowed to take a bike (woohooo) so riding options are on the cards. Dartmoor is certainly somewhere I'd like to explore.

My uncle has just been to Centre Parcs in Holland, worked out cheaper than going in UK!

Manor House Hotel Okehampton? Loads of stuff for the kids to do and close to Dartmoor.

We went there in February. The sports facilities and activities are first class, but the hotel itself is a bit of a dump. I took the opportunity to ride over Dartmoor.

We've been here https://www.thevalleycornwall.co.uk/welcome 5 times. Its great, no slides in the pool but we took inflatables and often had it to ourselves. We went half term and it was half the cost of centre parcs. The kids ask to go back every year now. Highly recommended.

i've had the misfortune of going there on a weekend paid for the in-laws with the in-laws. I think you are being overly generous.

It was a long time ago (~10 years) since I last visited! Vague recollection of the hotel being 'old-fashioned' but plenty to do.

I doubt it's been re-decorated since! And the food reminded me of school dinners. But I went swimming, played tennis, did archery, ten pin bowling, pistol shooting, etc. All really nice facilities, and great for the kids. Plus a hardcore ride up to Princeton in the snow.
