Hi chaps,

I switched on the bedroom light and it blew, now all the lights upstairs, save for the spare room wont switch on now. The breaker is marked up and down stairs lights. The downstairs lights are fine, so are the plug sockets.

Any ideas what the problem is before I get a Sparky out?

Cheers

Ricks

Can you reset the Breaker? or is it constantly tripping?

You have a GU10 halogen lamp that has melted the insulation causing a dead short. At least that's what we found in our house today 😯 . If you turn off the offending room switch, do the rest of the lights upstairs still work?

In the past we have had dodgy kettles and dodgy laptop batteries that kept tripping out the circuit breakers, so try disconnecting things like that as well.

How are the lights going to work if you remove all the bulbs? Are you Uncle Fester / Harry Blackstone Jr?
