I'll start us off with the fishtailing, seven spoke dish shod Capri 2.8i. What a beauty.

And to illustrate the scope of the thread:

The POS that was the Austin Allegro.

I once saw a Police Capri parked upside down after it failed to make a right turn and clipped the central kerb. (@DerekStarship - Southbound on the A56 at the corner of Hilton Lane).

Very cool... in a straight line.

The Mk1 Mexico was used way back in the '70's with extra gussets ooh err, missus to save the shell from splitting as the bounced up on the kerbs chasing the robbers in their Transit vans

The problem with the Ford Capri was the paving slab / bag of sand for the boot wasn't a factory-fitted option.

I bring the big wallowy (sp) heap of *&^%
Range Rover

According to my Dad (70's copper) anyway. He hated these things, along with the Capri's as they were damn awful to drive.

This comes under the heading "iconic."

Back in the day (ca. 1978) there was a fleet of 36 of these dedicated to patrolling the M62.

Saw one of these in action on the Dutch motorways when I was a kid. They police probably had donkeys in Dubai at that time. The drivers understandably wore helmets and had the lid off.

Had one of these

The worst panda car ever was the circa 1983 fleet of 3 door Mini Metros bought by Strathclyde. Not easy forcing someone into the back seat who didn't want to go there. OK for a runabout but never a patrol car.

Can't find any pics of the Strathclyde ones but this gives an idea.

@cougar is that Skid Mark’s car? I remember my mum telling me that a manual transmission was a novelty in the USA when I asked why there were so many shots of Mark changing gear.

Rumor was that the Cumbria police Sierra's and Sapphire's all had bags of sand in the back to keep them down on the road. There was one story of one going to rescue crew of an overturned police Sierra on Shap in a gale, only for the second to get blown off the road.
Another missed the bend over the bridge at Lazonby only to end up like this hanging above the Eden.
