Spiders don't usually bother me but...

[img] [/img]

A tradesman got the fright of his life when a huge bird-eating spider crawled up his arm at work.

He was pumping concrete on a property in Oyster Bay, south of Sydney, on Wednesday when the spider, believed to be an Australian tarantula, crawled onto his shoulder.

'I felt it crawling up my arm and seen it when it was near my shoulder. I'm not easily scared but was a little freaked about the size of it,' he told Daily Mail Australia

If you turn it upside down it looks like a cute sleepy alien

I can think of umpteen reasons why it's called a Nope spider.

Go on, pick it up...Nope

Go on, stroke it...Nope

Would you like one for a pet...Nope

I'd just saw my arm off at the shoulder with a panel-saw. The face of the saw acting as a face/spider blockade until the marrow is breached, gravity takes over and arm and spider fall to the floor as I run away squealing.

Situations like this call for an anti spider dog.

It's not really called a "nope" though is it? Surely that was just Graham's joke name...

I think you’ll find that from now on any large spider is going to be a ‘nope’, if past experience is anything to go by...
(Baby robins, etc...)

Nah, first one through the head, second was because a leg twitched.
It never hurts to be sure.

Not so sure, it’s obviously been feeding, and burped up something, but just what has it been feeding on?

I'd be more worried that that was the little one.

Yeah, just wait until it wakes up and starts crying for it’s mummy and daddy!

I'd be more worried about what the little ones were up to while this one was doing the distracting.

@ DezB any chance you could 'shop a joint into the 'mouth' of Mr Alien Spider there? I'm facing a crap day at work today and it would really get me through.

Also, are tarantula's 'bird eating'? im sadly not an entomologist, and far be it for me to question a Mail article for authenticity- they're normally always bob on- but can we fact check that?

Bird eating spiders belong to the same family as the tarantula, I think.

Surely the 2nd is for yourself if you miss the spider with the first...

So wasteful though - it was all "kill two bird(eating spider)s with one stone" when I were a lad. You should be saving that second bullet for the one thats in your slippers.

Weirdly i find that less disturbing than aragog that lives in my flat which is only like 3/4 the size of that monster.
