can i just connect using a suitable cable (£3) or do i need one of the converter boxes (£30) to get sound + vision from laptop onto the telly.
any ideas folks?

I think you'll need some kind of box. DVI to HDMI is easier

VGA is an analogue output, it'll need converting to digital, just a cable won't do it.
And it'll still look shite.
