Mrs and I are buying ourselves a laptop for Crimbo and have naturally left it until the sales to get the best VFM. Will be used as a PC replacement for itunes, skype, surfing, iPlayer / DVD viewing, possible video editing but not gaming. Spec wise, were looking at an i5 or i7 processor, 640Gb+ storage and a 15" screen. Will be kept for years. Quite like the look of Samsung's 7 series but open to suggestions in the £600 - £900 bracket.

Any notable bargains, either by retailer or brand?

Try this deal, if nothing else compare the other options against it..

G/f's i5 Dell laptop has been solid for the last 1 or so years we've owned it, and recently bought a 2nd hand Dell (2 years old) & it's been the same. I personally have no problems with Dells... others many disagree

Valid until the 27th!

Work gave me a nice Dell one, a Precision model. Huge screen. Not one for lugging about on a bike mind.

Will be kept for years.

tbh I'd spend less on the theory that laptops usually have a limited life (not as upgradable as a desktop).

Acer's aren't bad.

Asked about this one earlier, in your bracket for spec but ££'s cheaper.
