My Toshiba Satellite laptop has done me well the last few years, but its time for an upgrade. Im getting dizzy reading reviews and deciding which one. I still trying to catch up with lastest models etc and was hoping some of you could help with some advice or recommendations to add to the short list.

What I want..
I dont have space for a desktop so it has to be a laptop.

Needs; Large screen, quality picture. Good sound. Blueray preferable. Dedicated graphics card for some gaming. It will be a desktop substitute so highest spec available. Reliable.

Not bothered about
Weight, size of unit, design, touchscreen, battery life.

Budget.. £850 to £1000

A couple that have caught my eye, that seem to tick most of the boxes considering my budget, but would appreciate some informed opinions, to see if I am on the right track.

ASUS N550JV 15"
Dell Inspiron 17" 7000 series

Cheers

Inspiron 7000 user here - it is pretty good, nice and speedy. The keyboard is more pretty than type-y though*

* I might be spoilt in that I have used Thinkpads/a PS2 keyboard on a daily basis.

Worth a look if you're not brand conscious and know what specs you want

typing from an old inspiron here, been solid for near on 4 years now. Was lowish spec when I got it (only an I3) but had separate graphics. Coming unstuck on some games now. I'd take a look at the dell outlet store to increase your buying power.
