As above really, what films are we recommending to watch/avoid?

Logged in and watching the outside thinkers channel at the moment. We’ve also booked bike night.

Don't watch Helvellyn

It's essentially a broadcast from the Patterdale tourist board for 2 hours 30 and complete pap

I've seen a trailer for Helvellyn. It seems to be pretty stunning to me, much like Terry Abraham's previous two films.

The 'Trackless' one with Heather Dawe looks good.

It's at least an hour too long, and Helvellyn doesn't seem to have a north, west or southern side. More shots of Ullswater than the mountain. As well as Yorkshire being the backdrop for 50% of the aerial sequence

Oh @richpips & Minipips are doing a talk at Bike Night tonight on their new book.

https://thecyclerider.com/book-22000-miles/

The Ray Mears talk looks interesting.
Second the comment about Helvellyn - an hour would have been plenty. 2.5hrs is self-indulgent shite.

For the roadies there is a Rapha sponsored session tomorrow.
Will be watching bike night and then Ray Mears on catch up later.

Sorry for being slow, is this related to the Kendal Mountain Festival and is there some sort of stream(s) we can watch?

I did the KMF trail run up there a couple of times, shame can't be doing it this month.

@Duggan they are running the whole thing online as close to normal as they can (less freebies and no hand pulled beer) https://www.kendalmountainfestival.com/ including a ‘virtual’ 10k.

I’ve also just signed up to the Berghaus women’s session. I know a speaker in the Undergound session - looks good (as a non caver).

Dom was not the most natural presenter for bike night. At times it was painful.

@big_n_daft - Totally agree! It's not a patch on his other two films and is waaaaay too long. Was very bored by the end of it

The bike selection was ok, better than the bike night.
