That's a wise choice, even when you're kitted out for AX combat Thargoids can play too rough.

I have manged data by spending a couple of minutes outside busy stations scanning wakes and ships every time I go anywhere. A good source of wakes is distribution points (POIs) in famine systems, multiple sources every ten minutes.

what data do you need for Palin? DMWE for increased range FSD? Palin is a long way to go for FSD when farseer is right in the bubble.
if so as matt says dist points in famine systems. Community goal stations used to be a good source too (if gankers weren't around) do we think CGs will be back any time soon? Also carry a wake scanner on your multirole ship and make a habit of scanning a wake or 2 everytime you leave a station.

Various flavours of Industrial Firmware if you want the Dirty Thrusters.

Dirty drives uses various firmwares. I have found lower tier firmwares at Private Data Beacons, but higher there could be value in missions for Modified Embedded Firmware and then trading down.

[Edit] Just remembered the real pain with dirty drives.......Pharmaceutical Isolators!

I have a note that I found some in a wing delivery mission.

For the wakes, like D0NK says make yourself a bubble bus with a wake scanner on board. Mine is my DBX.

That's what I want. Either dirty or clean thruster upgrades for the Anaconda because that's its main combat weakness. And for the Fer de Lance too because why not?

I also made Competent last night. Then I got interdicted (no idea why I wasn't carrying anything valuable) by an Anaconda, first time ever. Roasted him in the end once his shields were down but I did need two SCBs.

I think I will go looking for wakes in my Fer de Lance as it's great to fly around in.

scanning/hacking megaships gets you lots of data, jameson crash site, scanning installations with your SRV (including davs hope), on missions MEF & CSF are "very rare" and given as rewards and you can trade down/cross for others, if the mission is also a scan mission its win win.
scanning every ship in a CZ/Res or in SC while travelling to faraway staions will get a bunch of lowgrade stuff.

Taking limpits on pew pew sessions and collecting the dropped mats while your shields recharge is a good habit too, just build mat acquisition into your gameplay (and regularly trade the ones you fill up) and you wont often have to "farm" for them

[Edit] Just remembered the real pain with dirty drives…….Pharmaceutical Isolators!

Pirate anacondas can drop them, if you kill one be sure to check the wreckage even if you dont have limpits, worth the time to collect them manually.

Yeah my Anaconda has a limpet controller for that purpose - the FdL doesn't have room though. Maybe the Krait is a better ship for mat scavenging. Doesn't help the encoded data though.

I didn't know that about pirates.

I found some the other week, in a HGE in Outbreak. This was after 6 months playing, shall we say regularly, and I got the new material discovered message!

Previously I had traded across from either imperial shielding or core dynamics composites.

Doesn’t help the encoded data though.

scan every ship you see for common encoded then when they're full trade up.
Your mining trips should have maxed out your common raw mats (again trade up when full)
Scavenging wreckage gets most manufactured mats

A quick ship with good jumprange, SRV bay, wake scanner and a limpit collector and you can collect all the rare stuff the above regular gameplay doesnt get.

RNGesus! Think they have to be high level pirates and then the probability may still be low. Its certainly not a farming method but remember to check for them.

I may have murdered a lot of T9 crews in those distribution centres for mine a long time ago.....I'm not proud.

I'm shocked.

I feel guilty every time I forget to request docking permission and get a 500CR fine. And a death threat - wtf is that all about?

EDIT oh wait - the Federation is the US, so a lethal response to minor infractions makes sense.

Meh, they all do it. I'm forever getting to the envelope with an orchestra of alarms declaring my arrival. Parking Eye must have the contract, its the only explaination.

I agree, at any one time at least 50% of my ships have fines or bounties.

Just finished a wing massacre mission (higher payout per ship destruction than none wing - weird) so if any PC players are gonna be around gagnan port later, turn up and get your >20Mil payout fo rfree. Let me know what time if you're interested (I dont think you have to have contributed, just join the wing, accept a mission invite then hand it in, but if Im wrong just shout)

Looks like someone is working against NKL, IPP and Li Chotep have both made significant gains in Akuntsu and Kuwembaa over the last 2 or 3 days. Seems a bit more than coincidence to me, so I'll run some missions between the Akuntsu and Kuwembaa and see what happens.

Ah, I noticed the stats seemed to be going against us.
Had an interesting time in our little war, 3 rebuys of my Krait, but 2 NKL wins. I really seem to struggle with multiple enemies.
Then went off to spend an age ferrying tea around to unlock Broo...now I’m starting to see what the Anaconda can really do.
So back to the CZ or is there another plan now?

I won’t be scrambling any time soon.

I’m still 1600LY away in the Sanguineous Rim at my last Crystalline Shard site.

I thought the CZ was trickier, yesterday. There seemed to be a tendency for the enemy to gang up on you. At one point I was fighting with a dropship, whilst tanking two vipers. I would have been dead in the Vulture, but the Funship has plenty of hull.

Need to find out what platform they're on, not much good we can all do except interdict on one side and work on the other. FWIW I haven't seen any CMDR's about.

got some requisition missions for NKL in akuntsu, 1 progenator, 2 natural fabric and 1 leather mission and picked up the resources for 1 progenator, 1 natural fabric and 2 leather missions, whoops! then RL got in the way so will have to rectify that and hand in those wing missions tonight if I get chance.

I havent seen anyone other commanders either (pc)

I haven't seen anyone around either (not a surprise on PS4). It looks like someone is running missions back and forth between Akuntsu and Kuwembaa, which could be for Fed and Empire rank, but why not include NKL for some of the Fed?

I guess we'll see whether it carries on!

I only drink and mine, with a half decent shield a few knocks on the roids doesn't matter! Plus anyone can land on a fleet carrier!

Why do NPCs interdict Fer-de-Lances? I'm highly unlikely to have any cargo, and I'm highly likely to be going to kill you.

I did get interdicted by someone, a FAS I think, and they just ran away and waked out without even firing a shot 🙂

NPCs aren't as logical as the rest of us. Good job, otherwise with their infinite chaff, almost limitless shield cell banks and no cooldown FSDs they would be proper pains!

I'm annoyed about the BGS, I was planning to go goid hunting this weekend and help out Down 2 Earth Astronomy in the battle for Leesti.

Well I’ve spent a good few hours today doing the dirty work of NKL out of Wylie Dock. I’ve done some things*, I’ve seen some things. Things I don’t really want to talk about. Bit hopefully NKL will be sitting in a slightly better position tonight.

17 civilian things, to be precise. That kept bloody running away... 😡
Plus numerous delivery, courier and pirate assassinations that I don’t feel quite so bad about; at least they fight back 😏

Yeah, not a fan of seal clubbing myself. I have gone one step further and been, ahem, 'taking out' IPP trade ships, in between running missions for NKL.

Yeah, not a fan of seal clubbing myself.

more like antelope clubbing, as V8ninety points out, these gits frequently run away

Ive been taking the slightly higher moral ground, trade and shooting pirates.

Stacked a few too many pirate missions, had five ships tearing lumps out of the vulture. Good job it's fast enough to run away, when needed. Back to the carrier for a new canopy, get Alyana out of bed and into the Funship!

Woo! Kharma at work!

Took a load of easy 1.2m missions and stacked them into 2 stops however 3/4 were influence ++++ so was nice. Rewarded with a Trit run for 21m after the influence boost and enough room in the hold to make 1.2m profit on the trade.

@squirrelking are you picking these up at Wylie or at one of the other stations?

I find I get the mining missions in Kuwembaa at Francisco de Eliza, which is unfortunately 21000Ls away. Still worth it for 6M for 36t of osmium, which I have stored on the carrier!

Hopefully yesterday will have put a dent into IPP's lead.

Moon's Spawn will be jumping out for an hour or so tonight to sell some Painite. I will try to post an exact time later.

Tomorrow, we will head out to the crystal shards for the day, (out Monday morning, back tuesday morning). Anyone who wants to top up their raw mats, should come along, the list of available mats is below.

HIP 36601 - C 4 A - Selenium - (Not crystal shards)
HIP 36601 - C 1 a - Polonium
HIP 36601 - C 1 d - Ruthenium
HIP 36601 - C 3 b - Tellurium
HIP 36601 - C 5 a - Technetium

Make sure to take a DSS and pick a site on the daylight side of the moon.
Take two SRVs if you can. You will get stuck.

I’ve maxed out on everything except Selenium. It’s easier just to trade for that. I’m currently in Outotz something or other getting Yttrum and Antimony

I'm working the next 3 days so won't be on this trip.

I think the high pay missions are a time of day thing, 2 missions for 63 and 70 insulating membrane for about 6.5m each. Got back and picked up a 13m trit and 5m palladium. That was logging on about 11am, same as yesterday.

I'm down to about 12,500 ly from the edge of the bubble. Maybe about 250-300 jumps. Then I'm going to sell the last 18 months worth of exploration data and buy me something with lots of guns and learn to shoot!

Buhwah hahahahahahaha!

I'm at my folks until tomorrow evening, just been out for a hilly ride with my mum on her while and got absolutely thrashed.

Found this in my Google feed tho, sounds interesting, bit more info than the dev diary:
