And then the a,t-right caught on and adopted it. Thing is, this list of ‘symbols of hate’ has been compiled by one group of people, I’m not sure that the majority of people will pay it much mind, at least as far as that particular gesture is concerned; things like the KKK have much greater and widespread recognition as something abhorrent and hateful.
Including Trump would go further, I feel...

I use it a lot. Best way to remove a hijacked meaning is to carry on using it as far as I'm concerned. 👌
