...is mince compared to the show on the wireless.

Another institution devalued in a bid for ratings.

Disagree. Does depend who is on. Julian Clarey, Merton, Fry and that newbie yesterday was great as there were actually loads of visual gags. The girls on today were dull though as it felt like Merton wasn't trying. I'm enjoying them.

The fact that it was televised added nothing at all.
The visuals were just a distraction.
Much, much better on radio, just like pretty much every other quiz/panel show.

QI on the radio would be excellent. Does anyone really need to see Jimmy Carr?

It is better on radio.

However, seeing Nicholas Parsons on telly again reminded me of happy childhood Sundays watching Sale of the Century. Innocent times.

Even the audience sound canned on the TV, listening on the wireless they are an integral part of the programme, almost like another panelist.

We (my family) used to think Parsons was senile back in the 70s. Can't believe the useless old duffer's still going. I guess that's his "charm"

I enjoyed the radio special from Mumbai the other day. A very enthusiastic audience and some nice gentle cultural rivalry. It worked surprisingly well.
