WTF do some of you people do to your jeans? I’ve a pair of Levi 511 in (shock) bootcut for when I wear boots. They’re about five years old and still going strong. I’m guessing you’re either washing them too frequently or your superb, manly thighs are rubbing together and wearing the fabric out.

Also have a pair of HebTroCo, not the GVNR, the slightly slimmer one and they are the best jeans I’ve ever owned. If I had a money tree I’d buy another pair and one of those jumbo cord shirts.

They’re the only two pairs of jeans I own so pretty much live in them.

Based on what you've said, Hebtroco do exactly what you're after. I got a pair of their moleskins for my birthday this year and the fit is heinously unfashionable. A real middle aged bloke down the pub cut.

They used to do a nice slim fit - at least I think so, my skinny mate has some old ones that look good- but mine are bad enough that I don't wear them out the house, and won't do until I've had them tailored. But they'd suit someone with thunder thighs and testicles the size of melons.

The regular fit is just like 501’s used to be comfy, just loose enough to be able to move around easily, and not stupidly expensive

I suspect it may be you that has changed, not the jeans...

nothing better than a STW denim thread

But it won't be complete without TJ spitting scorn and contempt on anyone wearing jeans who is over 13. 😁

I would recommend Athletic Denim, but they got bought out by Olympvs Jeans which I have no experience of.

However, last pair of jeans I bought were from Old Navy in the US which us basically budget Gap, I reliably informed they size up the same as Gap.  If you are large of thigh and glute but narrow of waist then Athletic fit jeans are great.

Another vote for HebTroCo.

I have a pair of Pure Blue Japan relaxed tapered from these folks, https://rivetandhide.com/shop/categories/jeans.html. Daft money but very good fit and ageing beautifully. I went in the shop, they know an awful lot about jeans and I came out with the best fitting pair of jeans I've ever had. The website also gives all the measurements for thigh, knee, rise etc.

Levi have a fit for all shapes and sizes. Go to one of those big stores with all their models and try them on. Not all 511 (or whatever model it is you are after) are the same, as materials change between sub-models.

Hebtroco here too. Expensive but beautifully made and unkillable.

Got 3 pairs already and another on the way for Christmas. 2 moleskin, 2 canvas.

The canvas Guvnor is the best trouser on earth. Fact.

I found Gap do a relaxed fit version, these are perfect for me, loose in the right places, not too baggy but comfortable. I’ve got some Levi’s but there the untreated ones so keep them for best.

What I struggle with is what to wear when not wearing jeans??!! Early 40’s what do men wear?? Too young for cords and trousers 🤣 can’t wear shorts all the time can you??

Well they are pretty impressive but I wear boxer briefs so they are kept well up out of the wear are. It's just lard, I'm afraid.

The grey H&M chinos aren't really chinos in the Gordon Gecko style. I really like wearing them.

Levis 502 are the current ones for 'athletic fit' people. big thighs here and they fit really nicely. they build in a bit of stretch now as well so you can walk up stairs etc. taper over the calf. maybe a bit on the skinny side but not to silly.

Another vote for Rivet & Hide if your after a quality pair of jeans and they are happy to guide the fit over email or a phone call plus they have a guide on how to measure jeans properly using an old pair that fit.

Picked up a pair of 21oz Iron Heart 777 this week for breaking in over the next year as it's all about the fades with selvedge denim

I need a 36" leg that narrows the options right down as most manufacturer top out at 34"

One of the few options that fitted well used to be G Star (and could usually pick them up at a decent discount) but had to search out the simple un-messed with designs. 3301 straight were good and there were some tapered that had a good sized thigh (though more recent 'tapered' G-Star were skin tight and went back)

Spoke are not cheap but long lengths and 3 different thigh cuts. Haven't tried their denim
£50 off first order for new customers with this link (£25 to me)

I don't think Brant's trousers will fit the OP what with his sprinters thighs and what not....

I used to find normal jeans just a *bit* tight around the thighs, and I also wore through crotches pretty fast. In general I never quite found the perfect pair.

Then I got given a Levi's gift voucher and since no-one was looking I sneakily tried on the elasticated 514s which were much pricier than I'd normally consider.

My god, the comfort! and the fit! Tapered without being silly tight, not too long but don't immediately go half-mast when I sit. Wife even thinks they look good on me which is a happy bonus and nobody except me (and now a bunch of random strangers on the web 😉 ) knows I'm wearing elasticated jeans.

Well I don’t know about his whatnot but our jeans do fit Steve and he’s an actual Olympic track gold medalist.

Yeah. We do 36in, with an extra 2in turn up on some sizes of GVNR too.

There is also https://olympvsjeans.com

Which claim to be jeans for athletes. Though all of the product pics make me s**** for some reason.

Planning to drop in and try some one day when we’re nearby. Boots too. But not so much travel this year ;-).

All the hebtroco jeans have turn ups? Do they not do a normal pair for people who are not bearded hipsters?

I'm starting my transition to middle-agedness by shopping in M&S. Their stretch denim in the comfiest pair of jeans I've owned in a very long time.

Rohan Classic jeans. I'd given up on jeans until I discovered Rohan jeans. If you wait for their New Year sale you'll get them at a good price.

Edwin are OK, not my favourite cut as the rise is a bit high for me. But, if you want to try them. Brownbag.com usually have them on sale, lots of other brands too.

The sort of athletes that appear in photos. Not proper ones, like us.

Genuine US Carhartt, not the fashion version

Great comfortable fit, even with Singlespeeders thighs, super hard wearing and cheap

Apparently the only other choice had silly taper / tight around the ankles.

Gap (boot cut I think) are good for me

Love STW sometimes! Seems like indie club fashion from 2002 lingers on!

Don't get boot cut. That's like wearing flares in 1985.

Levi 502 taper with flex/stretch work for me. Room around the thigh, modern cut but not clingy or high around the ankle.

maybe try 502? You can get them in various taper fits, they’re a bit roomier in the thigh than 501.

Another shout for the 502s here, enough room in the thighs but slightly tapered towards the bottom of the leg so sit better on shoes/boots than the 501s did for me.
