That's a Chrysler 300c, no?
Looks quite mad. Imagine the price of a tyre
Small part of me wants to buy one of of the last proper ones, but I don't think I really would.
Is that not the car that Parker used to drive Miss Penelope around in?
"Yes, m'lady"
A large 2+2 I understand, not luxo barge.
****ing ridiculous. The World is boiling, the roads are clogged and it won't fit in a parking space.
Good riddance when they fold if that is the best that they can offer.
they cannot be expecting to sell those in any sort of quantity
They expect to sell exactly zero - it's a concept car only...
Personally I like it.
The first production car is a four door saloon.
I like it a lot. Well done, Jaguar. Or JaGUar...whatever. The car looks great.
Thats a one and only, truly original, Jaguar pink from head to toe.
Panther approved
Copy Nothing, eh?

looks like a chrysler crossfire from the rear.
plus why the massive bonnet that looks long enough to house a straight 12 engine, when its electric?
Doesnt look great to me - but the most of the time the real car ends up looking nothing like the concept, so thats probably a good thing.
The car looks great
but still a concept car. Very likely it'll be massively dulled down by the time it hits the road, and by that point it looks like its just a big electric XK and they always sold so well...
IMO, the only concept car that managed to make production and match (or possibly exceed) expectations was the original Ford Ka.
The interior looks awful. It looks like a designer bathroom.
johndoh

Original Audi TT changed very little from concept to production as well.

Ahh yes, agreed.
This leak would have been better if it weren't pink.
Having your first car used to be about freedom ….. You don’t need that freedom if all your pals are online in their bedrooms too
You can write it off dismissively like that.
But the reality is that because housing is in short supply, more of it is in town center apartments. And while any electric car thread on STW descends into "but where am I going to charge it on the street", a lot of people are just being sensible and not having a car they don't need in the first place. I was looking the other day and whilst "car ownership" has actually gone up (cars per person), it's way more polarized. Moving from everyone having one, some households having two. To lots of households having 2 or 3, but a growing number having none at all.
The World is boiling, the roads are clogged and it won’t fit in a parking space
Well yes, it's massive. So making use of next year's EV Range Rover platform then. Or an early testbed for that? Presumably the Pink monster doesn't really need to sell. That's what the LR side of JLR is for.
Physical mock-ups look much better than the sketches. It’s doubling down on two trends that are a worry though… not being able to see/connect directly with the world around you, obviously a concern for cyclists… and light arrays that make it much harder for other road users to judge your position/distance. Pairs of lights please, especially on the rear.
No rear window? How can people see when you're giving them the middle finger! 🙂
I suspect if you’re driving one of these then you’ll have people to do that for you.
History tells us that 2+2 does not equal 4 pairs of legs though. Don’t think I’d be happy sitting in the passenger seat beside my driver
I've enjoyed watching the Car Nerds and Nationalists losing their shit over the rebrand.
Oh Jag is supposed to the this or that, E-Types, MKIIs and big XJs... Of course, none of them have actually bought one in the last few decades...
Jag sales have been in freefall for years, Tata had all but given up on them. They're not stupid, I assume they spent a lot of time and money working out what to do, if they think there's a market for this new style of Jag, then good luck to them. Doesn't appeal to me, but then the old ones didn't either.
The daft thing is that the designers of the new cars have deliberately styled them with long bonnets because that's what traditional Jags look like - one reason given for dropping the I Pace is that the nose is too short and un-Jaguar. No pleasing some folk!
Fair play to Jaguar, if they'd just launched the car (concept or not) nobody would have cared much but this strategy has got everyone talking about the brand - no such thing as bad publicity...
And yes, many people hate touchscreen controls, but look at all the Teslas you never see driving around…
I see a lot of Teslas, doesn’t alter the fact that all touchscreen interfaces in cars are, by their very nature, inherently dangerous! It’s illegal to use a touchscreen device in a car, like a smartphone, so explain to me just how car manufacturers are getting away with using dangerous technology in their products? A number of manufacturers have woken up to this and are returning to physical controls in vehicles.
Stuff Tesla and their shitty cars, I don’t have a problem with EV’s, I’m not in the market for one, I have a perfectly good car that I bought specifically because it has mostly physical controls, but, I’d consider one given the right circumstances. The new Citröen No8 appears to have physical controls, but the new EV version of the Puma has a chuffing great screen in the centre of the dash, and all the climate controls, along with everything else, seems to be set along the bottom of the screen, which is just so bloody stupid! It’s just not possible to safely adjust temperature, fan speed, etc, without taking your eyes off the road.
I have driven Citröen C4 Grand Picasso which has everything including the speedometer in the middle of the dash, and it’s all touchscreen. Great car to drive, but it’s too distracting trying to make adjustments.
Unless there’s a willing family member or passenger who can follow instructions…
Here’s a video
the actual car looks much better
i think it would turn heads for sure, I quite like the boldness of it, never been a fan of Jag before!
It looks like a phallic toaster. Which could be good if you're into that sort of thing.
It’s illegal to use a touchscreen device in a car, like a smartphone
I thought it was only illegal if the device is being held in the hand?
the actual car looks much better
But it won't ever be an actual (ie, road-legal, driveable) car – it's just a concept to show the direction they are heading with their styling.
Jag's problem now is too much attention – including from folk who will fully be expecting the next production car to look like the concept ...
Jag’s problem now is too much attention
Is there such a thing for a new brand launch?
A number of manufacturers have woken up to this and are returning to physical controls in vehicles.
Mostly the ones who made a massive cluster fudge out of it.
It's also being (rushed) into the legislative and NCAP frameworks.

According to Top Gear magazine, Jaguar are now going with the Edinburgh defence.
Ouch - JLR whistleblower sacked. Not a great look for the business (I'm fully aware that the actual faults were on a vehicle from a different part of the JLR/TATA group - engineer still got black listed though).

Look at the URL structure on the link you posted up... 😉
Oh, how we miss sniffpetrol - they'd have had a rollicking time.

Sniff is still about, just he's writing for evo and doing podcasts. And probably other stuff. His take on Jaguar was pretty level-headed, tbh.

Yep this was my post from a few weeks back that TBH was pretty much a somethingion of what he said
"The thing is what the hell do they do, it’s never been a big successful brand, early Jags offered plenty of performance and good looks as long as you didn’t look to closely at the fit & finish.
The XF & XE are both good looking cars but have never sold like they wished as more people bought 3 or 5 series BMW’s the F Type was always up against the 911.
The S type was retro “didn’t sell” the XF & XE modern “didn’t sell” so they are rolling the dice one last time IMO
Sadly they are a company that has never had deep pockets for “stuff” even when owned by big corps the money was never there."
