Phone memory management is different again.
Prioritising foreground tasks over background tasks is (usually) desired behaviour, you want all that crap dumping in order to focus on what you're actually doing. If you've got memory starvation then slow task switching is a small price to pay over the task you're looking at being on its arse.
I can't comment on STW's adverts, I doubt STW can either given that they're served by a third party. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if optimal code is not at the forefront of an advert provider's mind, I agree with you 100% here. In any case though, "foo is using blah amount of memory" is a nonsense argument in isolation. Because, so what? What else are you going to do with empty RAM? If you've got a browser tab using (and not releasing) half a gig whilst your SQL server is choking and you're trying to get 120FPS out of Forza then that's a different story.
Memory usage and memory shortage are very different things.
Anyone care to speculate what Starfield on the X|S might clock in at?
On PC it uses 116gb disk space. Running it on my system, random spot check it's using:
About 10gb of 32gb system RAM
About 7gb of 16gb Graphics card RAM
I've only just started playing it though, so it may use more when things get a bit busy.
