OK, electrics, table lamp around a year old. One of these silly touch- sensitive ones and it's been flickering profusely then switched off. Replaced fuse and it still doesn't work. Nothing wrong with the socket either.
So ... over to the awfully clever and knowledgeable STW guys ...

Should have been the first thing to check - The bulb! - Is it screwed in properly? Is it borked? 🙂

Mrs pearlbaz was sold a low energy lamp for one of these...they don't work. Make sure you're using a conventional filament lamp.
I think theres something funny in the electrickery at the moment. Two of me old ma's lamps have busted in the past week - chaecked fuse, plug, lamp holder, LAMP. Threw in bin. S'funny old world.

Bulb - An incandescent lamp or its glass housing.
So by that definition a lamp is the device that generates light. Something it can't do without a bulb in it. 🙂 😛

As for you old fart, words fail me!
The electronics that control the touch sensitive control often go wrong in these and do exactly what you're describing - we've had three die in about two years. Unfortunately when they start to go they're a bin job (or open them up, rewire them to just be a normal on/off light).
Unless of course, the bulb's loose 🙂

Check the connection at the bulb housing/cable interface.

It's been tweaked but is now completely dead. And I don't have the receipt for the pair of them.

Update - the second lamp of the pair has now died. And, to top it all, my angled desk lamp has broken. Thought it was the bulb (see, I now know what to do!) but replacement flickered then died 😯
So ... can any of you clever people throw some light (oops) on this? One lamp and desk lamp plugged into same extension lead which is one of those surge-protected thingies. Other lamp plugged into another surge-protected thingy.
To be honest, I feel like hanging myself from the rafters but can't go up there as the roof is still leaking 😥

Hmmmmm. Dunno 🙁 Have you tried bypassing the surge protectors? Possible it's just coincidence with the touch sensitive ones. You could do what I do, and learn to appreciate your trendy new muted lighting scheme 🙂
Hi Rich. Usual problem of too many appliances and not enough sockets! The room is dark, I can hardly read what I'm typing!
The desk lamp takes a halogen bulb but has a switch.
Just sick of domestic stuff taking up my time and energy when there's more important stuff likes bikes 🙄
You aint got any powerful electrical toys plugged in to the same socket have you? 😉
No no I dont mean those sort I mean something drawing full thirteen amps from the same socket you know like TV/Laptop/DVD and Satellite box? 😆

Yep, one table lamp shares with TV, DVD, Freesat. Desk lamp shares with PC, printer, second table lamp.
Theres your problem I would suggest. Smaller toys and more sockets to put them in 😳
Er on a serious note do you have a modern circuit board (RCD type) as you are in danger of causing a fire (not that a RCD type board would always prevent it).
Or get a bigger buldb in the main ceiling light and just ditch the crappy touch sensitive thingy,err light I mean...I'll get me coat, well me long Mac actually.....

Haven't a clue about circuit board, house is 30 years old. Did wonder if some updating was needed.
Don't worry touch sensitive rubbish lamps have been removed! It's "atmospheric" now 8)
