I have a a can of fridge-chilled aerosol cooling mist which is bloody lovely.

What kind of madness is this?

During this freak heatwave, health considerations aside, have you tried mixing your own "sports drinks" with salt in it, to retain water and feel better whilst getting on with things? All the water tasty salty when I lived in the 55c desert, although one brand had so much no one would touch it for fear of a heart attack.

In a new build hospital fitting steel work for medical equipment, no opening windows, no fans for air flow, absolutely sweltering. At least we're not doing roofing!

In a landfill in 25degrees supervising guys lay black hdpe lining.

The plastic was reading 40degrees so your feet are roasting it's highly abrasive so you are in full heavy ppe.

And
The
Smell

Anything with smells and excertion, binmen, sewer operatives etc.

Absolutely.

Actually that would be worse. I'm grumpy from 16degrees upwards patients would Not enjoy by bedside manner.

On a serious note; have any of you who seem to think this current warm weather is 'unbearable', do you suffer with high blood pressure? And if you haven't been diagnosed, perhaps it's worth getting it checked out. I've seen a definite correlation between HBP amongst people I know, and an intolerance of hot weather. Conversely, said people are less uncomfortable than others, in cold weather. Maybe it's a BP thing?

I would second the High BP, mine fluctuates between normal 128/72 and high 190/112 and when its high I sweat like a fat kid in a duffel coat. if its low I feel kind of comfortable with the heat. Though wearing full PPE in a flour mill in summer you sweat no matter how good you feel.

It could get a lot hotter in there if there's any error in area classification and equipment ratings!

I'm just in from a day DofE'ing in the Ochills.

28*c, not a cloud.

The heat coming off roads and stone tracks is immense.

And
The
Smell

Not been a problem since COVID. Apparently the puppy's dirty cage protests are unbearable.

1/3 iced water bottle and a small fan. In a loft room with slates to both sides. Only 30 at the moment.

It could get a lot hotter in there

More likely to be increased ventilation and relocation of the facility all over the nearby scenery.

On hols this week in Northumberland, as we are at least once every year. Place is busy but not mental and a decent cooling breeze. Did have to bail from a stroll on the beach at Beadnell after lunch today as our 9 month old cockapoo was getting too hot..
