I don't really use mine as I found a shocking correlation between using it and damaging myself...
Most of my videos are of crashes!

Is the problem with the not really that most of us just end up looking pretty shit? The pro films very rarely use the same camera angle for very long so if they have to change to keep it interesting watching a fairly average rider (no offence to the awesome riders on here!) isn't really interesting unless its bringing back good memories.

A lot of the time it's better to think I absolutely nailed a run rather than watching it back and realising I'm no riding god 🙂

That said, even though the two guys I ride off road with most never use theirs, I still want one...

Quite a few of mates bought them and despite them being half decent riding the footage still looks fairly boring. My dad has just bought one to use with his microlight which I can totally see the point of.

They get bloody annoying when mounted on your helmet (I'm not talking the bedroom mount). We bought one for our club and it's hardly been used.

If you're just gonna plonk it on your helmet and ride about, you'll likely get bored after a while. If you're the sort who likes to play about and experiment with angles and editing and music and downloading loads of rubbish programmes to try and convert your footage to work in a 10 year old editing programme cause your lappy is old and full of crap then you might love it.

I started using it as a POV camera mostly, but now it more of a stick it the ground somewhere camera.

Put a small video together from some footage i got at the weekend, i might mix it in with the dog chase posted earlier in this thread but this took long enough so will do for now.

I used imovie on my mac and this took about an hour to make, although I am just picking up using the software so this is my first real 'edit'. Could probably do it again in 10 minutes or so now.

(watch in HD)

Ex-GF bought me one last November

Maybe filmed sections on 6 or 7 rides but the editing takes far too long

I'd much rather be riding my bike than spending hours on the laptop

It's probably going to get sold pretty soon

I had a contour HD. Used it twice. Was bored of it and editing was a chore. Gathered dust for a while then I sold it. Luckily I got back what I paid for it.

I don't even click on videos people post now. They all look the same. First of all the set up, you know...... Camera on filming them making a brew/spreading butter on toast/picking their nose/having a pre ride dump...... Then getting the bike out of the garage/car/van... Bounce the forks, squidge tyres, test the brakes.... Next they leave camera on the car and film them riding off..... Then follows numerous shots where they've placed the camera somewhere to film them riding past. Then that's about it

Oh I almost forgot, all the above is accompanied by some god awful music

How many times must they ride past the camera to get the shot, then have to ride allllll the way back, check its worked, take another shot, riiiide all the way back again pick it up and repeat 100m down the trail. Boring, just ride!

I love my go pro. I take it with me everywhere pretty much. It's just a great point and shoot device and if you enjoy the editing process then it's good fun piecing it all together to make you life look more interesting than it actually is.

I made the below for my parents (who I don't see very often) so they can see what my wife and i get up to (no bedroom content)

Has anyone used theirs in the bedroom? I don't think I'd bother using one on a bike but in bed, oh yes.

Given how small and far away they make things look it might not be the best bedroom camera.

A bad edit can make exciting riding look dull. A good edit can make dull riding look exciting. Sadly most people don't spend nearly enough time and effort on the edit which is a shame because there are some great editing tools out there and the cameras are amazing.

A movie of just POV footage is always boring. I was going to get a GoPro but I'd use POV footage so sparingly that I decided it wasn't worth it.

Video cameras always seem to slacken the trail gradient so if you watch someone ride it looks much easier than it actually was. If you rode the trail then it brings back all the memories and emotions so it seems like a great video but to someone else they invariably look pretty dull. The exception being professionally produced ones, where they seem to know how to convey speed and gradient.

I've had mine for about months or so and tbh I didn't use it that much for the first 12 months as my PC couldn't handle the resolution side of things. However I've enjoyed putting stuff together now I've upgraded the PC.
Anything from MTBing, canoeing, bike touring, hill walking, car racing!!!!

Have a look and see what you think at some of my recent stuff!!

I use my GoPro cameras all the time, both at work and at home. I quite like the editing, although I'm not great at it, but it is time consuming.

I like the fact that the GoPro is pretty tough too....

For those using their GoPro as "cock-cam", the App has recently been upgraded with new firmware for the camera.
So now, not only can you watch your money shot, (and then the 4-second delayed repeat on the iPad), but now you can save the image via WiFi from the GoPro to your iPhone or iPad to distribute it to the www.

Hmm.. that quadcopter clip got me thinking.. weather balloon, parachute, pressure sensitive release. I've dreamed of stuff like that since I was a kid 🙂

Oooohh.. this is cool....

I wonder if there's a way to live stream the video from the camera to the ground? Then you could fly it using the footage. Anyone know what the range of the RC transmitters is? With a bit of boost maybe you could find out how high the plane is capable of going.. 🙂

You can stream the GoPro footage from camera to ground, using what they call an FPV system (transmitter on the quadcopter and either monitor or a set of goggles on the flyer) and most will accept the output from the GoPro Hero 3

What is the best editing software for an 18 month old laptop running 4gb of memory and an i5 processor?
Also they've just updated the gopro app and you can now playback thro the app and email/Facebook clips etc
