Or next to no cost?

I'm trying to beat the system, man. Vodafone hardly went out of their way to tie me in to another 24 month contract after giving them nearly 20 years of solid custom - so, I have my PAC and am looking to unlock my phone now in order to utilise a GifGaff bundle (GifGaff sim is en route)

I havent called Vodafone to ask for a cost to unlock although im lead to believe this will be £20.
Trouble is I literally have no money till pay day, and the interweb is awash with a million seemingly scrupulous links to 'free unlock codes'

Surely one of youz guys has done this for free?

Any tips?

As above, call them. If you were on contract they should do it for free.

Call them but they'll probably charge. Orange wanted £20 - this was for a phone out of contract - and I'd even taken a new phone & contract with them...

The worst of it with iPhones is they then relock to the next sim network as far as I know. There's no way of doing it free.

T- Mobile charged me £25 and then didn't actually tell me they'd done the unlock (IMO hoping you stay longer waiting).

OP just get Vodafone to do it then you are 100% sure it's done correctly which will help with resale value

I should add, I'm currently out of contract having gone 25 months into 24 month deal.

I'll see if Apple or Voda are feeling generous

Voda will do it for the £20 fee. It's just classed as an admin fee for their time now.

O2 will happily unlock any iPhone that's out of contract for free, I've had three unlocked so far, all you do is call them.

The worst of it with iPhones is they then relock to the next sim network as far as I know. There's no way of doing it free.

See what I've just written, and no they don't. I've no idea where you've got the idea that an iPhone can magically 'relock' itself when a new SIM is installed, once it's unlocked, it stays unlocked.

Good news for those interested, Voda will unlock for free providing you are at least 12mths into your contract. You have to follow and online form application and apparently they will action within a few days
