Specifically one who can have a look at a chest x-ray and tell me if there is anything up with my little lad's lungs - getting very frustrated with the hospital and VERY Contradictory information, while he is coughing his guts up and wheezing all day long.
If so drop me a mail ogwen69AThotmailDOTcom

The x ray should be reviewed by a consultant radiographer at some point. Usually what happens is the more junior docs have a look at it first and tell you what they see and then the x ray goes into a pile for review. Has his had the review?
Not everything can be seen on x ray - and some is a matter of opinion anyway -you need the clinical history as well.
Its too long since I tried to read x rays so not much point in me looking at his
Well the consultant has said to my wife "is it because you're too busy to look after him at home that you want to leave him in?" and "i'm too busy to look at it" - this without looking at the x-rays 🙁 i'm not impressed
My lad is 18 months old and hasn't eaten or slept(properly) for 48 hours and teh ***** at the hospital can't be bothered to look!
A&E consultant? Was it a consultant or a more junior doc?
Can you not go to a different hospital?
YGM
@tj - A&E
@mtbfix - alas not really. Nearest otehr is about 12 miles but they don't do A&E for kids, will just refer us back to hospital 1.
Option 3 is Leeds - a right ball ache but if he doens't improve by the morning that is where he'll be going.
I'm not at home unfortunately i'm away with work so can't turn up myself, which is probably a good thing because if the consultant spoke to me like that I'd probably deck him and get arrested which would achieve nothing

Sorry to here what you are going through, poorly kids make for the most stressful time of your life. I am a doctor but looking at your kids x-ray in isolation from him, his story and other investigations isn't going to help I'm afraid.
The best I can suggest if you are being mucked around is to get yourself to the Patient advice and liason service (PALS), every hospital has one, and get them to look into things for you. They are generally very good advocates for patients and their parents against the chaos of the NHS.
Hope your son is ok.
TJ: Consultant radiologists do the reporting, not radiographers.
Lactic - sorry - couldn't remember whether it was 'ologist or 'ographer
Sounds like BS to me from said doc, i'm to busy to look at it sounds like i can't interpret it to me!
the bottom line is you and your wife have not been reassured adequately by the said doc and understandibly you are stressed because your kid is ill. If you are unhappy and you are worried about your son's condition, take him back try and stay calm and ask that you would like your child to be referred to a paediatric registrar or consultant. The 2 quotes you have highlighted are not acceptable and should never have exited a medical professionals mouth.
Ogwen - I think I’d be looking towards making a formal complaint – Drs at any grade should not be making such personal and subjective statements about your family and your personal circumstances
Get your boy sorted first, complain later.
