Expect some large multi national companies to suddenly announce massive redundancies in next few weeks.

It all sounds really quite exciting doesn't it?! ๐Ÿ˜†

Another round of milking the masses by the looks of it; squeezing the smaller investors until they cough and swiping their pots.

The final boss fight could be worth a small wager with bet365 or some such other online provider...

I'd like to apologise for setting off a worldwide financial meltdown by planning on cashing my Isa this week to pay for building work. F**g b***s!

Does anyone want a broken Nintendo DS lite?

Yes, by all accounts it was quite the bubble. The Shanghai Composite went up by something like 150% in 12 months. So some of the more sober accounts are calling the a correction rather than the zombie apocalypse. Looking at Damian McBride's tweets I'd say he's either gone massive on selling short or he's off his tits on coke.

Storm in a tea cup so far, Woodford's fund is still up 12% over the last 12 months. Be a different story if you'd put all your money in mining companies.....

Could be a good time to buy some (BLT or RIO) big divi's which they look likely to continue. Or buy RDSB while oil is at a low, they'll probably keep the divi's up and should get some upside over the next few years, invest for the long term.

DYOR etc....

Shermer's got it right, allegedly McBrides been on a coke and hookers bender and now has to explain it to his partner... or he's selling short.

Well I see the FTSE heading up again. Personally I'd be considering more llyods bank shares to hold on well into the future but as Dobbo says do your own research...

panic over!

the stock market is now

a) rallying
b) surging
AND
c) roaring back

according to the Guardian. The front pages will be free of photos of bankers frowning at screens and Damian McBride will be able to stop stocking up on automatic weapons and lentils ๐Ÿ™‚

I was thinking this, but all depends how long China stays subdued and whether they can weather the lull etc....

Do I still need the order I placed for arrows, machetes and fishing hooks? What about the pallets of beans and the IBC of fresh water that should arrive on Friday?

well assuming you ordered them yesterday i'd flog them on the Apocalypse Futures Index before they arrive. You could make a tidy profit.

QE doesn't help bankers or the wealthy make money. QE was introduced as banks have less ability to lend money these days so the government is stepping into the market to provide loans / liquidity. QE has made it more difficult for the wealthy to make money.

China is selling off for a variety of reasons not least that there is a huge amount of small / medium investors lunging the market with borrowed money and sooner or later they where going to get spoked.

Oil at below $40 a barrel will help a lot of ordinary people

Until the frackers in the US who've borrowed a load from the banks to expand then find the price is too low to make any profit, go bust, can't repay those loans, the bad debts crystalize and the banks go bust (again)...

Not an entirely unlikely scenario at $40...

Fracking costs have been plummeting over the last few years as they get the hang of it. The expected collapse of US fracking, which is what Saudi Arabia was hoping for, hasn't happened and production is pretty stable.

QE increases the value of assets which tend to be owned by wealthier people. QE may also increase economic activity which benefits those at the bottom of the pile through infrastructure projects generating work etc however often the latter lags the former. QE tends to exacerbate inequality.
