What with a million cereals, porridge, cooked breakfasts and those folks who skip what is allegedly the most important meal of the day, does anyone actually have jam anymore? Seems like such an olde worlde thing to partake in first thing.
I’d posit jam is only for posh people to have with scones and afternoon tea.
For the record I am not sure if I am including marmalade in this situation.

I’ve been having jam sandwiches for lunch some days recently and people in the office have almost laughed at me thinking it’s a kids thing!
They are LOVELY. A nice strawberry jam sandwich is a wonderful thing and can’t help cheer you up.

The answer is yes, and marmalade even more so.
My son loves jam, and has it on toast for brekkie. I typically have it on scones or croissants. Sometimes on porridge.
Its something I only buy these days if we've got people coming to stay, on a 'just in case they don't like marmite' basis.

Peoples palates haven’t changed, they’ve just got too up themselves to still enjoy simple foods that have been round forever - just cos something is traditional/old/simple doesn’t mean it isn’t delicious!

I recently got a jar of Lime Marmalade for the firsat time in years - white bread toasted, cold butter from the fridge and topped with a layer of lime marmalade - fantastic.

We have two opened jars of jam in the fridge (black cherry and strawberry), one in the cupboard unopened (raspberry) and an opened jar of marmalade in the fridge as well (three fruits: lemon, lime and grapefruit). They're all "taste the difference" style as jam is one of those items its worth spending more on.
Everyone I know eats jam.
I have never been a massive fan or jam, but my mum made some fantastic blackcurrant jam this year.
It's a world away from anything you buy in the shops.

I have got a loaf in the freezer and some marmalade in the fridge if I do fancy a piece of toast on the weekend. Jam - have never bought it.

indeed, the jar does state 'keep in the fridge' but that is just wrong. Cold jam on warm toast!? WRONG!
I finished jam but it is less common. More for cream tea than anything as a treat.

I've been in Spain a fair bit lately, jam seems to be on the decline there as well. There seems to be fashion (it's not a new thing, just back in fashion) for olive oil and grated tomato on toast for breakfast.
Its actually really nice, I'm a bit addicted to it at the moment.

Apart from the fact I hate tomatoes, how do you grate a tomato? I suspect you may grate one or two passes of tomato skin and then crush the rest in your fist?
