We have a Samsung smart TV. iPlayer was working fine yesterday, but today all we get is the 'loading' screen and then a blank grey screen.

Other services (e.g. 4OD) seem to be working.

Anyone any thoughts what to do about this?

Aye, tried that. Still get a grey screen. Can't work out how to reboot TV, and Google not being helpful.

when you say you cant work out how to reboot tv, are you saying you cant turn it off? ๐Ÿ˜€

If turning it on and off doesnt work, then i would uninstall the iplayer app then reinstall it.

Last resort, check and update the tv's software, (in the settings).

G

I've managed to reset the Smart Hub, which apparently uninstalls all the apps. Still no joy.

Just tried it on our Samsung SMART tv and it come up and works. It's very slow and clunky but it is an old TV so probably a bit slow and clunky normally when using the SMART features - its a tv we don't use often so not sure how it performs normally. Working fine on other devices though.

On my Samsung Smart TV you can delete individual apps, so beyond advising to delete and re-install i'm out of suggestions. If other apps on your TV are working fine then it's not your TV.

Have you got it set to Samsung Instant On? It's a quick start feature. It's under systems/general on the menu.

I generally have it on, but every now and then the apps play up so I deactivate the feature and switch the tv off and on again. It's like a reboot and seems to reset everything and has always sorted out any issues that I've had.

Smart TV apps are notorious for this, ie stopping working (based on what I read). Just because iPlayer works on another Samsung TV doesn't mean anything for your model. IMO ditto other apps. Personally I focus on the smarts outside the tv, eg use your phone / tablet and buy a Chromecast.

I'll give that a go when I get home.
