The comments in the 'I'm getting divorced and feeling sad' threads can be grim reading on here
Out on the road as usual today and I reckon that probably 25% ish of those riders I saw were women. At a Triathlon I passed it looked about half and half.
As a side note why is it acceptable to have an international womens day but if a mans day was promoted there would be hell raised? Don't go on about the greater need, the only fair way is identical treatment. As a 60 something I don't expect a fat old mans day and is there anyone out there doing anything to encourage my demographic to ride more even though we were possible the biggest group out today where I was?
This favouritism really gets many people backs up be it this issue or more money spent on car infrastructure than cycles or what ever.
Awaits irrational flaming now.

The thing that makes everyone ride more is building safe routes that don't involve mixing with traffic. That's it. That's the magic bullet.
If you don't, then you end up with the same demographic who are least risk averse, ie. young men.
There is of course a reason why Dutch teenagers are frequently shown to be the happiest in Europe.
I'm just going to repost this, as I think it might have been missed as the last post on page one. It seems relevant to the thread and certainly something worth celebrating and hopefully will be an inspiration to other women.
I think that women's cycling may have found a new role model. This is an amazing achievement and absolutely mind-blowing!
It was the last post on page 1.
and is the last post on this page too! Weird eh
