Great events are Questars. A good challenge if you are serious, stimulating and hugely enjoyable if you are just doing them for fun. You could also try looking at the Rat Race series of events. For generall adventure racing stuff keep an eye on Sleepmonsters or mightcontainnuts.

Dynamicadventurerace events were very good but they have just folded.

Have you thought about racing abroad?
I know for cycling we have 24doce and other maratones,I'm sure that if you wanted we could find something tri or duatlon here in Madrid.

Didn't you live here for a while?

You local running club will have listings of "proper" events such as XC races and the FRA will give you a list of fell races in the UK.

+1 I love doing the Questars and DAR events.
WTF DAR have just folded? I was just plannnig the Feb NF event last week?! IMO a far better circuit than the Questars NF event, where the biking was cr*p.

cheers guys, yeah don simon i did indeed ๐Ÿ˜€

i'll have a look at those events, for fun rather than proper competing it must be emphasised! it's really to help me motivate myself to keep doing exercise through the dark months and would like to do another marathon this year. finding time and also a lack of car makes things more complicated but plenty folk i can bribe to transport me

Questars is good, although I have some gripes with the prize structures.
