My sister called her 2 kids Harrison and Morgan.
But best name I ever heard was an old neighbour, when he died it turned out his name wasn't Burt that everyone called him but Lancelot Valentine.
i'm guessing here, and its going out on a limb but I don't think he felt entirely comfortable with an unusual name?..Lancelot Valentine
There is a guy from a company we used a work called........Anil Bangher. I sh*t you not.
My brother in law has unfortunately got a father that is a boxing fan that named him......Tyson , funnily enough he took up amateur boxing and he fought under his middle name out of embarrasment. Although his buddies used to cheer on "White Tyson" , how i laughed.
My boys are called Alaric, Fabian and Lyndon
I had to photograph Dave Courtney once, the gangster if you like, he called his daughter Courtney Courtney, tragic.
Also know a couple who called their kids Cosmo, Orlando and Dido, each to their own I guess.
the mrs is a legal type. she once did a care case for a wee girl called clamidia.
its not even funny.
The footballing Neville brothers dad is called Neville Neville poor sod!
Neville Neville, they play in defence,
Neville Neville , their future's immense.
Neville Neville , they ain't half bad,
Neville Neville, the name of their dad
Sung to the tune of David Bowie's 'Rebel Rebel'
LOL Hora bit like when I was a middle school, 4 years with a kid who was basically my best mate at the time called Lee two weeks before we leave and it turned out his first name was Errol. He hated it that much he used his middle name.
Yeh the rebel rebel tune was in my head as I typed
My son was at school with a hedgers kid called Feral
Andrew Alcock isn't funny.
His abbreviated email address was.
A midwife I spoke to recently mentioned that they had an unusually named baby girl come through their doors recently, named....
Tyranny
I guess the parents thought it was the female version of Tyrone? hey each to their own..
TM
My dentist called her twins Ben and Natasha, nothing strange there obviously but child number three was called Blaise. 😯 poor lad sounds like a pony.
Justin Sidebottom would be cruel anybody know one?
I know a David Davies very imaginative! My mother is called Jenny Taylor.
I remember a neighbouring family, she was English, he Spanish, name of Juan pronounced in the usual Spanish way
They had a son and decided to name him after his dad. Except they anglicised it...
so somewhere in Wakefield there's a bloke in his late 30s called "Juan", half-rhyming with "ruin" because they thought it would be too hard for the locals to pronounce...
"ey up fella, what's tha name"
"Jewan"
"Jewan?"
"yeah"
"spell it for me"
"J-U-A-N"
"oooh, you mean 'hwan'?"
"no, that's me dad's name"
FFS 🙄
When I was told some of our friends had called their little boy "shay" I was quite surprised they'd named him after Bolivian revolutionary Che Guevara. I was less surprised, but more amused to find they'd called him Shea, after the stadium. Dad's an American football fan.
As a student in Portsmouth my wife remembers a baby being born, and the parents trying to register the name as "T-J", to be told you cannot register just initials! The solution....
Tee-Jay....
I also know a kid called Levi, Bamboo, and oddly enough, from the 5 little girls that were born in our NCT group, 4 are called Emily and one called Amilie....
DrP
Bamboo????? 😯
You think you've heard 'em all...that's a beauty 🙂
I used to know a very english Juanita who pronounced her own name 'Jew-uh-nee-tuh'.
There is an ever-expanding family in Plymouth whose kids are all Gucci, Chanel and so on.
Quick run through my kids' nursery and school friends gives us:
Trinity annd Raven (sisters!), Beau-Bliss, Jayden (nice, I've just never heard it before),Layla, Sydney(girl), Madison (parents not track cycling fans afaik), Ava and Lyla (sisters: mum a music fan).
😆
This is great fun.
Friend of ours has just had a boy
First name is Linden, which is the old english / proper name for a lime tree - he's a very outdoorsy arborculturist type.
Second name Frederick - which is a family name obviously
Last name Muddy - which comes from a love of blues but I suspect will be an apposite name for someone destined to enjoy the great outdoors like his mum and dad!!
Trinity annd Raven
Genius. The reason? In 20yrs time who will remember some dusty CGI-film? Those names are cool and future-proof IMO.
My name is Mark Anthony. Do you think my mum was in love with a certain film in her youth?
Kid on our street called Britney. The family don't disappoint either.
My wifes cousins freind ( Got that ) has a boy called Armani and a girl called sky river 😀
Edit: A trend I've noticed in Wrexham is the name 'Paris' amongst the local chavs. There must be about a hundred of them running round the town centre on a sat afternoon.
we had a Paul at school. very normal until you learnt his surname was Ennis
P.Ennis, obviously we mad his life hell and he's probably a serial killer by now who's MO is to castrate his victims
Jenny Taylor is class.
There's a William Williams who has Williams disease up the road from us..
And a lovely couple in town whose many kids I can't recall ALL the names of.. but I do Know that two of their kids are named after the couples favourite tobacco brands and have names derived from mixing up 'Lambert and Butler' and 'Golden Virginia'
And that reminds me, I know it's probably a bit cliche but we once met a man called Richard Head. He forstalled us (as he must do with everyone when he sees them doing that little bit of mental conversion) and immediately said his parents were very innocent and simply hadn't considered the implications.
Mackenzie? It's a brand name made up by JD Sports. 🙂
My wife works in various hospitals around Liverpool. Two from this year are Reebok and Dalton.
Now Dalton isn't too bad except the poor chap's surname is Towers...
Most teachers agree that stupid name = stupid child! 🙂
There's a few unusual ones in our family - my brother-in-law's girl is called Star and their latest is Mimi (I think! Its bloody hard to keep track). Bro-in-Law is a paramedic and was featured in a day-time TV prog at the time his wife was pregnant. Was quite funny to hear Nick Knowles announced that Sean's baby was born and was named "Star?" in a 'WTF' type way.
Our boy is called Lydon. Which isn't unusual, just cool 😉

My good friend has just called his newborn daughter Kalya, which I quite like.
When I assume my mantle as Glorious Leader, there will be a list of names for prospective parents to choose from:
For boys, Arthur, Albert & Alfred should suffice.
I may allow Boddington and Ingleborough, just to give the individualists free reign to express themselves.
Girls will only be allowed to be named after flowers, trees or herbs.
I may widen this to allow naming after fruit and veg, as long as no one goes mad.
At my daughter's nursery there was a girl called Bluebell - and the family name was Wood.
There was also a girl called Honey Knights. I considered it cruel to give a child a Porn Star-esque name.
My mum has come across a few interesting names (working in a school in HK - some children choose their own English names), the best ones being Ocean and Anakin. She also quite liked Ivan Ho...
Her cousin has a nephew who has a Polish name - which roughly translates as 'Bishop'. His last name is Ivanski, so he gets called Bishop Ivan, which I think is an awesome name!
She was also recently talking to a woman who registers births and deaths - One family had three or four sons (I forget how many..), and they all had the same name, William. and the same 1st middle name... so they called them by their 2nd middle names, only they were Reginald, Robert, Richard, etc. So they all had the same three initials W.R.R, which I imagine is going to be difficult when it comes to opening the post...
It's the alcohol names that I love!
Stella, although this is a rather nice old name as well from the early-mid twentieth century
Chardonnay
Sambucca
I've always assumed that this is whetever the mother has been under the influence of at conception. Thanks fück Mrs MFL had some sense, otherwise MFL junior would have been Vodka-Red-Bull!
A friend of Mrs MFL years ago had a child soon after leaving work, called the kid Morgan, lots of rumours about father as local utilities had recently been renewed by a company called........Morgan!
I have also known someone (genuinely) whose name was Michael Hunt (as per the Mike Hunt scene from Porkies). Oddly enough used to insist on being called by his middle name.
Think of the poor females who were named Stella before it became known as the wifebeater etc?
binners yes its freedom and liberty 😉
Indonesia - they call all their boys like this:
The firstborn is "Wokalayan" or Wayan (or Yan, for short)
Second is "Made,"
Third is "Nyoman" or Komang (Man or Mang for short)
Fourth is "Ketut" (often elided to Tut).
The first born is Wayan, and if there is a fifth child, he/she is often called Wayan Balik (or Wayan "again").
My Dad went to Uni with a German Vet called Everard Koch. (who is now all over the internet, imagine the pulling power)
Everard Koch
😆
oh have another
😆
Mercedes and Cosworth for two sisters.
No, really.
