Wife's 40th in september and need a place to stay in, or close to, Bath. Are there any decent accomodation options under £150 per night? A farm B&B on the outskirts perhaps? Any recommendations gratefully received. Travelodge is not an option BTW.

There's a bus stop near the Fleece on the A36.

Stayed here when I was in bath for a mate's wedding a couple of years back:

Very central, and reasonably presented (more impressive outside than in). Can't remember how much we paid, but I doubt I'd have spent over your budget, because I'm a cheapskate.

Stay in Bristol and get the train to Bath?
Roman City Guest House;

Not expensive at all, think it was about £60/£70 a night, 10 min walk to the centre, good breakfast. Job Done!

Highly recommended. Top class place, brilliant location, stayed there myself a while back. You need to sort parking out, but there are free options and cheap parking not far away. The good bit is you don't need the car as you are bang in the centre.
We stayed at www.dorianhouse.co.uk , lovely place just off Wells Rd within walking distance of city and has free parking.
Owned by Tim Hugh and his wife, Tim is lead cellist with LSO, visit website and have sound turned on.
Regards Matt.
This place is awesome value, very 'her indoors friendly', has roll top baths, is right in the main centre and you can have kippers for breakfast...

Stayed many times....
Great, thanks for all the suggestions, (except Derek) I'll have a look later on.
Cheers
If you don't mind being a little further out of Bath, but still in the Cotswolds, close to Castle Combe, in fact, then you could try here: http://www.fossefarmhouse.com/Fosse_Farmhouse/Fosse_Farmhouse_b%26b,_guesthouse,_hotel,_accommodation,_self_catering,_castle_combe.html
The proprietor is a long-time friend, and the house is lovely, as is the self-catering, she even has a couple of shepherd huts out the back, which seem to be very popular!
This is the back, with one of the huts, and the self-catering:

and this is the front:
And before anybody says anything, I have no connection with the hotel, other than that I've known the owner for over twenty years, she's just a friend I scrounge mugs of tea off of when I'm out on the bike!
