The vast majority of Russian holidaymakers that I encountered on holiday in Goa last week were a bunch of arrogant, rude, disrespectful, (to the locals) robbing barstewards. Horrible people.
Not surprisingly, very few Goan people like them!

I've heard from a few sources that the Russian presence has ruined Goa 🙁

You're right. You're not. 😀

You're talking about spoilt, rich idiots ruining a particularly nice holiday destination.

Ever been to Abersoch? 🙂

Many of them aren't spoilt. From what I have heard, they are pimping, drug-pushing, local-abusing bullies.

Like some of the Muslims you get over here. 😯

Are, as you seem to have recognised from your wording, not the same as "the vast majority of Russians" so you may get away with that comment.

Many years ago when I worked in a casino, the people who came in who were Chinese (okay, looked Chinese and had accents) were without exception rude and arrogant. After a while I realised that I was developing racist views towards Chinese people (i.e. including Chinese people I encountered other than over a roulette table). I had strong words with myself. I'm a sanctimonious guardian reader with white middle class guilt aplenty but still found it ridiculously easy to veer into irrational stereotyping. Scary really.

I believe some of the skiers returning back from European destinations are finding the new wave of tourists from the Eastern bloc quite hard going too. 😐

Sure they were Russians?
I'm only asking because it's quite easy to roll up inhabitants of most of the former Eastern bloc as 'Russians'. They sound, and, to a degree, look similar.

EDIT: Actually, they were probably Israelis

Its the rise in post Communist Bloc 'chavism' .
Many of us Brits ( myself included) always surptised that there are others who are as equally badly behaved as we can be when abroad, another unique trait lost forever.

IME most Goan people do, in general, & lots of Goan people have UK friends.
We even got an invite to a taxi drivers house, which was a brilliant experience!

Had a few holidays in Turkey and there are Ruskis aplenty there. They treat the Hotel Staff like sh1t. My Mate once said to this particularly overbearing, arrogant, rude Russian......'You've managed to learn every word in the English language except please!'

The response was' why should I say please to these people....they are scum!'

ever dived in Sharm el Sheikh? Their tourism board courted the Russians when the Italians stopped coming after the bombings, and it is to them exactly what Spain was to brits (cheap sun please, no foreign culture thanks) and is suffering some of the same results (though Sharm looks like its always appealed to that sort of market, all TGI Fridays, Hard Rock Cafe etc)

Loads of stunning Russian girls there. Most of them available at affordable rates 🙄

It is a bit weird being in Austria and 90% of the people are Russian. Mind you I don't like being in resorts with loads of British people either.

Supposedly they tried to put a quota on how many Russians could come to Kitzbuhel as it was spoiling the experience for other nationalities.

i think the salient fact here is the op encountered some arseholes. the fact that they were russian arseholes isn't important.

if the op worries that he feels guilty because he doesn't like arseholes, i'm here to tell him that he shouldn't.

if the op worries that he feels guilty because he doesn't like russians, i'm here to tell him that he should.

I chatted to a Russian family holidaying in Biaritz; interesting, articulate and polite people (and clearly on the heavy side of loaded).
