Telegraph Road by Dire Straits.

By the time you work out what that whining noise has been for 40 seconds, you'll not have to bother answering the phone ๐Ÿ™‚

DJ Shadow - 3 Freaks (Primate King Edit ft. Turf Talk & Keak Da Sneak)

great intro of scratching and some random hello voice sample before some funky breaks.

I had 'Limewax - 666 untitled' as mine until one day when I was listening to my mp3 player and realised everyone in the office had stopped work and was staring at me...turns out my phone was ringing

Guitar break from Whole Lotta Rosie makes a good loud ring tone.

You want a ringtone? Aisha, by Death In Vegas. Perfect guitar riff intro. There's info on making iPhone ringtones all over the place, it's not difficult to do, either from iTunes or Garageband.

I have an urge to go all retro:

And a whole bunch of 70s-80s kids will prick their ears up and think "I know that, where the hell is that from?". And I'll smile to myself, quietly, with contentment that I have sparked a good memory in some passers by.

I'll then probably be laughed at by teenagers, and others. But content I shall be.

Yeah, another classic example of apple knowing what's best for you - easy enough to get around but not something that you have to do on pretty much any half decent phone that can play mp3s.

Or something a little different:

New World Order - Ministry

Refuse/Resist - Sepultura

Better if your phone has 12" bass bins, though.

Blur - Parklife the opening as a ringtone ending on the Oi, also used to have just the oi as a text alert
The theme tune to Brandy & Mr Whiskers (it's a long story)
and the opening chord from A Hard Days Night as a text alert.

Clubber, it's worse than that, not only do they make it hard to fathom out, but actually pretty easy to do once you know, but the whole concept of purchasing a song, and then paying again to make a short "ringtone" version of it almost takes one's breath away...No wonder they haven't realised the technology in the UK, who knows; we might realise they're not so fluffy and cuddly as we thought, and perhaps, that like any other huuuuge US corporation, they just want our money...
