We're doing it different this year and having flamingo instead of turkey for xmas dinner. Trouble is there will only be one leg between seven of us.

It’s started with gusto in my house, I’m already fed up of it.

Also, Halloween now seems to be the whole of October.

I remember the days when Halloween was just something Americans did and that John Carpenter movie (though a good movie).

Newsflash: you're allowed to eat mince pies all year round while listening to Slade's song about robins & wine and boychilds.

I can deal with Easter. Not so full on and as much as they try to push Easter cards as well as eggs i don't know anyone that gives out Easter cards. I take that as a small victory.lol

Christmas is just so bloody relentless, long and worst..... So damned cynical!

The music is sh*te too.

I was having this discussion with someone in the office here: The problem with the UK is there are no national holidays between the end of August and Christmas. Here in Canada we have Labor Day in September, Thanksgiving in October, Remembrance Day in November, and then Christmas in December.

I haven't noticed any nods towards Christmas here yet: Everything is all Helloweeny at the moment and it seems the regular holidays keep people's minds off Christmas; at lease for a while.

In short: The UK needs more statutory holidays.

Kids eat their last Easter egg yesterday, I found it in the cupboard while I was putting the Xmas chocolate away. Bit messed up!

Where do people go or do to get so annoyed about Christmas? I’ve seen one advert for Disneyland and noticed that the supermarkets have a seasonal aisle (and chocolates are displayed prominently) but it’s not like I’m hearing Slade or Wizzard every few minutes. And stores aren’t covered in tinsel yet.

Can't say it bothers me, just means 2 aisles of tat currently in my local supermarket (one for Halloween, one for Christmas - although some of the Christmas costumes look more appropriate for Halloween). On the plus side the mince pies are on sale now...

Of all the things it's possible to get annoyed about in this bad old world, the early onset of Christmas celebrations should be a low priority.

It's as inevitable as a trip to the throne after a chicken vindaloo.

We've booked our team Xmas lunch at work and some are already making menu choices.  Yo-ho-tmesising-ho.

I'd like to suggest that we create a new thread every day "ONLY 99 MORE SLEEPS 'TIL CHRISTMAS" so that Poopscoop knows that it'll be over soon and can be reassured that we share his struggle.

He won’t see it. His TV is stuck on the Xmas film channel and he’s watching an endless repeat of ‘Christmas on 34th St’.

Passed a Costa yesterday that had someone in a Santa Suit complete with beard going round inside.  Local garden centre has full-on Christmas section going including massive animated Christmas tableau - around 4m x 2m.

I'm looking forward to it. Almost 2 weeks off work, time with the family, good food, squeeze a couple of rides in.

Who knows, it's bizarre. The sort of folk that have a gammon all year round by the sounds of them.....

If it got earlier every year that someone said "it gets earlier every year," we'd be celebrating Christmas 2023 right now. My gran used to say that, and she's been dead for 20 years.

I'm not particularly looking forward to it this year because Reasons, so I'm going to do something radical and just mostly ignore it.

Store selling merchandise for a big event just under ten weeks away. Nobody complains about adverts for summer holidays that appear just after new year.

I’m more puzzled that I saw a big roadside poster advertising bikinis and sun cream a few days ago.

My mate owns a garden centre, and he has to go to Harrogate to a big convention order all his stuff in summer, so it's all bought and paid for just sitting there, hardly surprising they wanna get it out on sale tbh.
