Try Gavin Clark a bit less rythmical in style. Underrated genius. Wrote many of the sound tracks to Shane meadows films. Tragically died very recently in his forties.

He was the Gavin Clark who was in sunhouse, clayhill and did vocals for UNKLE. Thete is another musician with the same name. I, erm, like his music less...

You'll find plenty of his tunes on YouTube and spotify (who can't differentiate between the two Gavin Clarks)

Not sure if this is quite what you're after. rough and dirty in places, but sad and bittersweet too. and funny.

Some great recent acoustic sessions on Planet Rock from the likes of Thunder, Cadillac Three and more. Worth a listen.

Also, the album that kicked off the whole "unplugged" thing, Five Man Acoustical Jam.

TVZ is a very good choice, too!

Aweomse, cheers chaps. I've got to starting googling/youtubing names now! Should prove a nice distraction whilst rewriting my CV!

Any with an almost British Sea Shanty or Irish rebel sound like my original video would be appreciated as well. Some good shouts so far though.

Thanks for posting this thread and that song. Sometimes a song hits the spot perfectly and that's it.

Eddie Vedder's Into The Wild soundtrack
Alexai Murdoch is also worth checking out.

Thanks for reminding me of William Elliot Whitmore, Nick. His cover of Don't Prey On Me was my favourite song on the Bad Religion cover album but I never got round to checking his own stuff.

NMH are one of the most powerful musical experiences I've ever had, see them if you can.

Anyway, on a lighter note, how about some Jeffrey Lewis

Re-read the thread and noticed the Irish connection, not really there but worth a shot.

Austin Lucas; some lovely stuff on his 'Stay Reckless' album. (He has been doing some stuff with Chuck Ragen of late)

This is a live version of Alone In Memphis which has been around my head for the weeks since I saw him live a few weeks ago:
