Probably because they are wrong. Both are actually real cities although one of yours is better than the right answer

gorilla - he has a name

otter (read the earlier clue but can only think of rotterdam which is wrong) - it's a little tenuous but there is another. Getting warmer, although maybe better to get colder.

emerald stone - the only fictional city, although I believe it is the nickname of another city in the game

It is very relevant. Can't tell you without giving it away. It's pretty small though, and hard to spell

Palm:

Spoiler
two words. The second is a clue elsewhere (which is actually how I stumbled upon the correct answer to the palm one). You'll have heard of it.

FFS, when Google says its a state rather than a city so I ignore it.

There are clues already I know, but can't get:

Hats on the lights

Mother waving

Spring

Otter

Cow balloon

Which one was

Spoiler
Sydney?

I put it in for something else and didn't see which spot came up.

The address above the door. It's quite a specific reference but you can guess it from the street

All of these have had hints earlier the thread. Can give further hints if that's not enough. The hats are two different clues.

Maybe misspelled before. That's something I found. My geography is ok but it turns out my spelling of foreign cities needs some work.

Hats on the lights - They are individual clues not linked, zoom in and the hats are different, some straight forward guesses should get them

Mother waving - You're correct in saying shes a mother, thats part of the answer, then why do you wave?

Spring - What colour is it? I'd never heard of it

Otter - Canadian city

Cow balloon - Good clue few pages back

What's the spray bottle on the bath? No-one's mentioned it, is it that obvious?!

Yeah. Not too tricky and reasonably sensible clue. Hopefully you can get on the right scent

The fedora-type hat might be worn on a ship transiting from the Pacific to the Atlantic via a canal
