For those curious about the actual legal standing of the claims during the meeting....
I have to deal with them all the time at work. Like most of life I suppose it's a real mix of people who care and utterly vile individuals who have not heard the word 'no' enough in their sheltered lives.
Down on the South Coast there is an extremely pleasant village where a lot of my friends live. It's packed with a mix of young people with families seeking an outdoor life, absent second homers and retired tory voters. The PC is obviously packed with the retired element who stifled every single good thing in the village.
A group of my mates got together, got themselves elected onto the council and slowly, through an agonising tedious process actually got a skatepark built and made some positive changes. It was harrowing for them to deal with the low level abuse and knock backs and completely shone a light on how people who don't have a vested interest in a future hold all the power at a local level.
Almost watched it until I got to the OP's second line racist description.

A lot of these people love the law, especially the little nitty-gritty aspects of it. But only when it suits them. Or, sort of related, when they are convinced they are right in the eyes of the law when actually either no such law exists or they're wrong.
They're the same people who tell you that you MUST ride in the cycle lane when one is present. However when they are invariably caught speeding in their car, it's petty officialdom gone too far.

This is also my experience (although in South Northamptonshire, also home to old retired Tories) really you’d have thought we were asking for a drug den/house of ill repute to be built, rather than somewhere our kids could play. One even said to me “but they’ll go there at all times of the day and night” as if that was sufficient reason, as if I’d suddenly see his reasoning “oh, of course how silly of me not to have foreseen that of course kids will want to use a skatepark...what was I thinking?”
I attend town council meetings and see nothing out of the ordinary in this video.

"Gammon" = "red-faced with anger." If one doesn't want to be referred to as a gammon then one can simply be a nicer person. It's considerably harder to stop being, say, African-American unless you're Michael Jackson, and he's dead now.

I'm reminded of a good few years ago now, my then-local council built a skate park in the centre of town to try and drag the sk8ers off the various pedestrian-y surrounding bits where they were mowing down pensioners. It was duly ignored by all the kids, no-one could be seen to be uncool enough to use a council skate park. In a sudden flash of unbridled genius the council stuck a "BY ORDER: KEEP OUT" notice on the door, the skaters immediately broke in and were on it like a tramp on chips.
I know, it was an amazing moment. We can’t have a skatepark as kids will want to use it...
we would have these strange discussions where kids would be blamed for all sorts, always using pejorative language like “congregate” and “feral” but the idea of giving them something to do, absolutely not. The cognitive dissonance that takes must be hard to keep up.
It was the same back in my home town, built by the council = not used. They recently put a new playground in the Castle park, ripping up the old one that never got used except this time they put in a zipwire between two steel frames. The kids ignore it but the retired people love it! Even caught the local parish councillor on it in the dark while walking the dog. Took great pleasure in reminding him that he had opposed the building of it last year, sadly it was too dark to take a video of him on it for the town's facebook page.

The ability to complain about bored kids "hanging around" and "committing crime" while simultaneously denying them anything to do or anywhere safe to go.
We had the same with a skate ramp near mine. I wish they'd built a proper pump track as well though!

Black people have suffered/are suffering various injustices. Derogatory terms about or against black people need to be understood in this context.
I'm not aware that angry entitled ****s have been particularly oppressed since the term Gammom was coined. If Gammons are enslaved and oppressed (in real ways, not in imaginary ways by the liberal elite or whatever) for a few hundred years there may be some equivalence.
Comparing Gammon with offensive terms about black people is based on toddler level logic.

Therefore if a term about black = racist, then a term about mottled pink = racist because both are colours.

I am male pale and stale. I am in a group that has advantage in society and has used it to oppress others. Not all white men over 50 do this. But it is done by this group more than other groups.
I could be offended if I was called a gammon, because I’m not, and I don’t want to be associated with that particular stereotype which I associate with certain opinions and behaviours which I don’t hold. But as I know I’m not the person who they think I am, I’m not offended, (unless I am exhibiting those behaviours!)
A black person who is called something derogatory based on their colour knows that the person is doing it because of their colour. They don’t have the privilege of knowing that they aren’t in the group that is being oppressed.

Gammon is a term used for a person acting in a certain way and has nothing to do with race.

It's a term for angry little men. Men who are conservative with a big and small c. It's a term for people who like to use the term 'I'm not racist but'. It's a term for the narcissist and the nimby. The small minded, the mean, the culturally immature. It's a term for those who wistfully look back to the good old days of the 80s and 90s with its section 28 and women had proper jobs on telly like game show hostess Miss World contestant.
I am white, male, middle aged and middle class and feel no reflected insult when a gammon is called a gammon.
