[#3836294]

Curious to hear some personal experiences / opinions on the aforementioned diet.

Lots of people rave about it - lots say it's a waste of time.

I've read a lot of the previous threads - got some very informative information from tomhughes and Idave on the scientific reasons behind the diet - and I must say it's all pretty convincing and making me look a little more at the food I eat.

However, currently pasta/rice makes up pretty much every evening meal for me. I love milk and I'm Irish - therefore potatoes are obviously a staple!

I'd say I'm pretty healthy. Commute 12 miles on the bike 3 days a week. 5-a-side once a week and light weights a few nights a week.

A daily food intake would be along the lines of:
Breakfast - Porridge (in milk) with a boiled egg
Lunch - Tuna / Chicken salad
Dinner - Normally a meat and pasta / rice dish with a good dishing of veg. Tonight was bacon & chicken with pasta, in regge regge sauce with mushrooms, peppers, onions, garlis and chillis
Snacks: Normally a few handfuls of nuts

Don't struggle much for energy but not exactly getting out of bed ready to run a marathon either.

So, looking at that would going on the Idiet make a huge difference to me? Has it made a huge difference to you - if so, how?

And if you tried it and thought it was pants - why?

sorry dave 🙂 - don't want to get into a debate on the rights and wrongs of the diet and that - seen it all before.
Seems pretty sound advice to me - just trying to ponder if it would make much of a difference to me.
Genuinely interested in a spectrum of experiences to help out

the recent ones I have read seem to have descended into training regime talk and guff on full training programmes - which is of no interest to me.
Been a week or so since I read the ones I found genuinely interesting but not many varied voices talking about it...

"I'm Irish - therefore potatoes are obviously a staple!"

Decide that they're not, then they're not. To be sure.

Have a nice thread.

two options

a) try it and see

b) don't

Nobody will be able to tell you what it will do for you.

Are you fat? If yes then it works, simple as that.

Do you just want to eat more healthily? This is a good place to start looking: http://www.marksdailyapple.com

either way, you're gonna have to lose the spuds 😆

If posts about it annoy you so much - why read them? That baffles me to be sure.

I'm not asking for any justification of Mr Dave's diet - think it's a great gesture to provide it to people on here and offer suggestions to help people - it's how people have found it that interests me.

zilo - cheers for linky - will read

Happy to help.
But there has been a huge amount of chat on the subject already.
Years of it.

Can I suggest the All new and exciting Meehaja diet. Basically, you eat a bit less, do a bit more and try not to eat too much crap. If you do eat crap, you have to work out its calorific value and go for a run long enough to burn the calories off.

After 3 weeks you'll have lost some weight or died.

Idiet is good if you can stick to it, I wasn't commited enough so now I'm going longer term and just reducing carbs, thinking a lot more about what I eat/drink.

Why are we talking about this when we're not being paid by someone?

Anyway...

In the main I eat iMeals, maybe I train too much to stick wholeheartedly to all the rules. This week I'm experimenting with blended oat smoothies post certain training sessions. I'll let you know if I maintain or lose weight.

I suppose the main measure will be if it has any impact on recovery.

Tonight I had a cup of oats, blended with milk, a banana, a dessert spoon of honey, another of peanut butter and a cheeky scoop of protein powder.

Roasted mediterranean veg and chicken thighs for my proper meal.

Ah !.

Yeti. You know ?, against all better judgement....

I like you.

Occasionally.

Anyway. Food blenders...

I have purchased a magimix, thingy.
The most expensive I could find in John Lewis.
I plan go unpack it soon and start making things posted on MDA.
Of course, failing that.
I shall, perhaps, be tempted to play blender roulette, in the kitchen.

How hard can it be ?.....

😆

In response to the OP I'm just into week three and although it's been a struggle (85-90% of what I would normally eat is banned) what with no bread, tatties, cheese, biscuits, etc.) however I have lost a stone and still managed to go for a couple of 4 hour mountain bike rides, walk 80-90 miles and climb progressively harder each week (it's amazing how much easier half a stone makes at a time!).

So far it's a resounding success, but then seen as I'm a biffer, I'm the target market as it were. If you aren't a biffer then it might not be of the same benefit. Not sure what you are supposed to once you've dropped to a sensible weight. I've at least a month to find out though!

So far it's a resounding success

I'm very pleased for you.

Keep up the good work.
You're expecting to get to 12-15 percent Body Fat following the iDave Diet, as I know it.

I love all you iDieters who apply some thought and get the results.
It is effective, but one needs to apply one's self.

And don't forget. This is a change for life, not just for iDavemas.

What ?, not even being reported for amateur fly tipping...
(see monksie's thread)

Given enough red wine.
You'd cope, for 5 mins.
